Bill Gates, Michael Bloomberg and three other billionaires are bankrolling a controversial gun-control initiative that will appear on the Nov. 4 ballot in Washington State.
Even the new owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, Steve Ballmer, has gotten into the act, writing a check for $1 million dollars to help flood the airwaves with anti-gun propaganda.
The strategy in Washington relies on big money supplied by a few ultra-rich elites and, if successful, could serve as Bloombergs model for tightening the strings on gun owners nationwide.
Initiative 594 would not only require background checks for transactions at gun shows and over the Internet but also person-to-person sales and loaned guns. Even handing a firearm to a friend for a few moments during a hunting trip would trigger the need for a background check if Initiative 594 were to pass, critics say. The cost of the background check, to be borne by the gun owner, is yet to be determined.
Backers of the proposal are flush with cash, as nearly $8 million has been shoveled in their direction from wealthy businessmen such as Bloomberg, Gates, Ballmer, Seattle venture capitalist Nick Hanauer and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen.
But Bloomberg and his billionaire buddies arent limiting their targets to Washington. He has invested $50 million in similar ballot initiatives in 12 states, reported the Seattle Times. The money moves through his foundation, Every Town For Gun Safety.

There may be a point to stripping billionaires of their money after all.
When you have people protecting you with guns, it is easy to believe that other people shouldn’t have them.
Other people meaning people that aren’t protecting you, of course.
Agreed, but - but did not the Supreme Court rule that money in politics is free speech? The Citizen's United decision is a two edged sword.
They push to remove human rights from fellow citizens because they know that they are superior to their fellow citizens and will remain immune to the laws they advocate for.
LOL
Might get more of them registered that way!
Just prior to the boating accident.
Controversial issues are not really ‘buyable’. Most people have a strong position one way or another already, and will not listen to the ads.
It costs a lot of money and a very unintelligent electorate to convince the little people to sign away their security and human rights. But, these billionaires have a lot of money.
The very first name listed is Bill Gates.
Maybe we should looking into Microsoft (whatever) for something that changes the 2nd amendment. Like-—
“There existing a professional and heavily armed constabulary, there is NO need for the citizenry to own and bear their own arms.”
Could be.
. . . reminds me of the Civil War era mansions in Charleston, SC that have sharp metal spikes on top of the fences surrounding the homes. They were very much afraid of a slave revolt. . . what about it billionaires????
Direct Democracy is NOT Your Friend! ping
Perhaps they should be buying homes in other countries. This one is becoming very hostile to the Half Percenters.
Well its not news that WA is a nanny state.
Armed peasants are dangerous.
agree...then go to the courts and have the law thrown out ala the way the gays did...
Yeah.
I’d go full Soviet Union on those jagoffs.
May they all be stabbed to death.
When Lefties say they want to “get the money out of politics,” they mean everybody else’ money, not their own.
This guy is such a lying sack of sht this Bloomberg. He wants guns banned, he bans smoking, drinking soda, trans-fats, motor scooters, electric scooters, food donated to the homeless, bans anything shaped like a gun no matter how small, bans candy machines, soda machines, but then he relentlessly promotes bike riding around multi-ton trucks, buses, and speeding taxis which regularly kills someone every week in New York city. Why? Because supporting the global warming scam is more important than lives. Every-single-week someone is killed on a bike in NYC. Matter of fact one was killed yesterday, well not killed but brain dead which pretty much means it is over for her.....
It's all in the interest of their families, they don't want to be murdered and have a child become the Batman! Well my logic right there is as sound or more so than theirs for stripping us of our rights.
