DALLAS The Texas nurse who contracted Ebola while caring for the first person to die of the virus in the U.S. has been identified as 26-year-old Nina Pham.
Health officials have not released the nurses name, but Yahoo News identified Pham through public records and a state nursing database.

It doesn’t matter what the family requested. This is a fatal and contagious disease. Anyone who may have had even incidental contact with her has the right to know that she’s been infected.

World Health Organization Director-General Margaret Chan issued a statement Monday at a conference in Manila calling the outbreak “the most severe, acute health emergency seen in modern times.”
She said development of a vaccine or cure for Ebola has lagged because the virus is prevalent in such poor nations.
“The outbreak spotlights the dangers of the world’s growing social and economic inequalities,” Chan added. “The rich get the best care. The poor are left to die.”
She said the outbreak is disrupting economies and societies around the world. She said 90% of economic costs of any outbreak “come from irrational and disorganized efforts of the public to avoid infection.”
Already saw that website news blurb obviously written by a liberal/Obama supporter asking why an “inexperienced 26-year old” would be treating an Ebola patient. The implication was that her catching the virus was her own fault and not proximately caused by Obama letting Liberians like Duncan into the US.
I’m sure she had more than enough training to work in that wing. Whether it was airborne, accidental or a breakdown in protocol, that woman was working under tough circumstances and our prayers should go out to she and her family.
I pray for this girl in her fight. I am furious that CDC tried to BLAME HER!!! You can’t make it up. Democrats are blaming budget cuts!! This is degenerating quickly. I actually saw a blog blaming the state of TEXAS? Stop the damned flights and passengers from killing our people!!. Get your ass off the golf course and DO SOMETHING!!! FAST!!
A team of 50 people worked with Duncan. The size of the team could be part of the problem.
She looks like a very nice person. Prayers for her, her family, her bf and her dog.
Mo Money MO Money!!
Africa has become the Black Hole of the globe.. Harboring diseases and beasts that kill without thought or blinking.
WHO in their right mind would have it any other way?
No matter how much ya toss at the ills of the world, most of it gets tossed back on you.
Disorganized and lacking focus..
Certainly not funds,, how much did Bush spend there?
Heck, Obama won’t even send his half bro in a hut a buck.
Life was never easy in Africa.. A divided continent.
And a deadly one.
We’ll get plenty more of this if the two in New York City reported today turn out to be Ebola.
With liberals, they always like placing the blame on others so that it won’t make their messiah Obama look bad..This woman devoted her life to helping people. I hope and pray that she will be OK..meanwhile, Duncan’s family members were supposedly around this guy while he was up chucking and pooping all over the place with a 103 degree fever and got NOTHING..which makes me think there is MUCH more to this story we don’t know. I don’t believe his family members were ever in that apartment, my spidey senses tell me that they knew in advance he was coming with Ebola and prepared for it
Prayers for a full recovery, as it goes, and from the media blitz and all the collateral damage.
Just a baby with her whole life ahead of her. I curse this leftist scourge that has brought us here.
For sure!!.
Prayers up for her complete recovery.
Here we go again, blaming the industrialized Western nations for no cure being found yet.
I’m darned sick and tired of the West being the ‘bad-guy’ no matter what pops up.
Margaret Chan, don’t let the barn door hit ya... getting off the global stage.
Among the fatalities is Samuel Brisbane, a former advisor to the Liberian Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, described as "one of Liberia's most high-profile doctors." In July, leading Ebola doctor Sheik Umar Khan from Sierra Leone died in the outbreak. His death was followed by two more deaths in Sierra Leone: Modupe Cole, a senior physician at the country's main referral facility, and Sahr Rogers, who worked in Kenema. In August, a well-known Nigerian physician, Ameyo Adadevoh, died.
Experts are getting this, and dying. Something is wrong with the protocols. The CDC makes a serious mistake when a Dallas nurse gets infected, and the official word essentially becomes "it's her own damn fault".
Things are not as they appear.
Prayers up.
I have a daughter who is a nurse and is about her age.
Hefting patients out of bed to change their bedpans and dressing is a young person’s game.
Wow, that's a slap to African scientists. What, they're not as smart as Western scientists? Or would that be white scientists? Huh? Come on, Chan, come clean on where you stand.
Medical confidences? What are those?
I knew as soon as TCU issued their mealy-mouthed statement that someone would nail the ID very quickly.
