The Philadelphia Eagles, in conjunction with Ronald McDonald House, have made the day for Colin Delaney, a 15-year-old battling leukemia. The Eagles gave the former middle school fullback a one-day contract and invited him to sit on the bench for Sunday night's game with the division rival New York Giants. Delaney was given his contract by Eagles general manager Howie Roseman, who presented the teen with a No. 1 jersey with his name on it.

The Eagles fans probably booed him. Worst fans in the history of sports.

Of course, after this generous and moving event courtesy of the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles, he’ll probably have to face Obama’s Death Panel.

Great move by the Eagles.

But with the Eagles’ injury situation, I wouldn’t be surprised if Chip Kelly asks him “hey, uh, could you help us out at inside linebacker for a few series here and there?”

Yeah if any of you sarcastic FReepers had a kid who was dying at 15 maybe you could see this as a good thing.

Imagine this kid’s daily life and what he has been through. Then the thrill of sitting with “his” team, who will be more gracious and make him feel awesome.

Gd bless. Giving joy to the sick is a very big charity (mitzvah we say). Hope he is well and really enjoys his day.

I agree seems very petty and childish to be so stupidly sarcastic. I guess its true no good deed goes unpunished. Your right its a good thing for them that the shoe is not on the other foot!

We should be more like you I guess?

Talking trash on a story of a good deed to a kid with cancer.

I hope the boy makes a full recovery but doesn’t this eliminate his collegiate eligibility?

Thank-you. I’m sitting here with foggy eyes while a handful of DB’s can’t get over themselves.

Here’s a corporation that for a few bucks has made the life of a kid on death row, a little brighter.

Won’t catch me making derogatory comments about this.

This was a class act by the Eagles.

Reaching out and being kind to other humans is a very high calling. Too few step up.

Knowing Eagles fans, it’s a reasonable assumption that they booed the kid, not trash talk.

Fans who booed Santa Claus will boo dying kids. A perfectly reasonable assumption.

It ain’t me, babe. I think what the Eagles did is marvelous. Perhaps you should find a more appropriate target.

They booed (and snow-balled) a scraggly, stand-in Santa (the original Santa-actor did not show up in time) who appeared to be a bit “influenced” by the $5 stadium beers ... Eagles fans might be boo-happy, but they won’t boo this kid ...

Nice story. The Utah Jazz did this same thing with a boy around five just this week
