Former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum, who narrowly won the 2012 Iowa caucuses, will headline a fundraiser later this month for U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Kiron.

The event will take place Oct. 22 in a private home in Dakota Dunes, S.D.

(SNIP)

In a release, Santorum said King is the kind of congressman people need.

“We need Steve King in Congress to stand up for America, our sovereignty, values, and economy... Steve understands the burden illegal immigration creates on American workers and their wages.

That’s good, because we need to slam the barn door closed for a few decades.

Santorum was the best choice in 2012. He was the clear runner-up to Romney. Under GOPe rules, he should be the nominee in 2016, but I doubt that he will be.

Santorum is not a bad man. I think his message is real and that he believes it. I also don’t think he has the ability to take it over the top. Nor do I think he had the money last time. I’m fairly certain he was carried to be a spoiler/divider.

He was here in Michigan the other day.

He wasn’t my first choice in 2012 but I ended up feeling pretty good about him.

Santorum has got to be one of the hardest working guys out there. It seems like he’s in a different state every day. He’s been in the San Diego area twice in the last month or so. I can only imagine how hard he would have worked as president.

Is he still carring his dead kid around while he fundraises?

Rinos are bad. Sanctimonious rinos like Santorum and Romney are worse.

I know he’s been a great campaigner for conservatives as well as those who toe the party line.

Pro-Secured Borders, Pro-Life, Pro-Traditional Marriage, Pro-English as the National Language, Pro-1st and 2nd amendment. Now, what are people discussing drawbacks saying??

By the way, he’s got his website I visited some time ago, I think it might be called “Patriot Voices”, it’s been awhile.

I don’t think either Santorum or his biggest financial backer in 2012, Foster Friess, intended him to be a spoiler. They both strike me as true believers. One can of course argue that in effect Santorum ended up a spoiler, though.

Santorum was my former congressman and U.S. Senator. He’s always had a great work ethic.

Spoiler for whom? Gingrich? The guy who managed to win a grand total of two states? Both in his backyard!

Newt was finished after Florida. He wouldn't even bow out gracefully when Santorum won Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi.

If anything, Gingrich was the spoiler for Santorum.

That is pretty offensive. I don’t think his daughter has passed away.

You clearly missed the photos ops with the dead baby.

The guy is creepy AND and a Spector-supporting RINO.

He exist to split the conservative vote so RINOs get elected.

Wiki - “One psychologist interviewed by ABC News said what the Santorums did was encouraged at the time, although no longer recommended; another told the media outlet: “It’s not far out of the norm at all ... There is nothing pathological about it or particularly alarming.”[236] Writers who had experienced a stillbirth defended the Santorums’ actions, with columnist Charles Lane writing that he personally regretted not showing the body of his stillborn baby to his then-six-year old son,[237] and Jessica Heslam, writing that holding her own stillborn baby brought her “much peace”

The proper course of action after S. Carolina was for Gingrich, Santorum, and Perry to get together in a smoke-filled room and not emerge until they all 3 had endorsed just one of the others. I would include Ron Paul, but it’s not likely he would have cooperated.
