In a new op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, Republican strategist Karl Rove warns the GOP that should they make big gains in the November midterm elections, they should focus on passing legislation rather than score-settling with President Barack Obama.
Rove writes that he anticipates Obama to reject bills sent to him from a Republican Congress but that Obama deserves the chance to show hes matured as a leader and has the energy to govern.
From the op-ed:
Mr. Obama is not the only person who must decide how to proceed. Whatever path the president chooses, Republicans must settle on a course, too. They should understand that, while it is insane to assume good faith from Mr. Obama, they should not make score-settling with the administration their priority.
Voters want Republicans to restrain Mr. Obama from further bad actions and oversee, and in some cases investigate, misdeeds and gross mismanagement. Even more, however, they want Republicans to tackle the problems facing Americans, especially middle-class Americans. This means the GOP should start with measures to strengthen the economy and help job creation.
Once again, the Establishment's mouthpiece demonstrates that only conservatives are to be hit and hit hard. Democrats and "the president" are to be treated nicely, because they're our buddies.
Mealy-mouthed milquetoast moderation! The rallying cry of the GOP.
WTF?
The issue is that it wouldn’t be “score settling”. It would be “problem fixing”.
Why the hell would those opposed to existing policy blunders vote for the R label if the GOP disavows fixing the problems?
Follow the money? Who is really paying Rove, my bet one world order fools.
Karl needs to grow a pair.
I can’t make up my mind if Rove is using a Jeddi mind trick of writing to make everyone think the GOP retaking the Senate is inevitable, or if Rove really believe the nonsense he’s peddling.
yea, that’s why the voters would vote out the dems... so nothing would happen
seriously, these guys need to be removed. they’re just enemy agents
after everything 0bama and crew have done, and now we have ebola... people should be arrested and tossed in jail
i guess we’ll have to wait until a million or so are infected before we actually do anything
Rove speaks like a true RINO.
Step 1: Vote to reduce taxes and spending.
Step 2: Investigate all of the Obama Administration misdeeds.
Step 3: Focus on punishing people in the administration who willingly and knowingly violated the law.
Step 4: Deport Karl Rove.
Of course not. Rove wouldn’t do anything to hurt his model.
It pays well to sit on the fence.
What was the first thing the majority Dem house and senate did? They reversed major legislation, and “stuck it” to the GOP. And obamaumao said “we won, get over it”.
He isn’t going to “mature” or hear anything we say— he WANTs the US to collapse, Rove. This is War!
Rove is an a##.
I need to find that Graphic of the Elephant and Donkey behind each others masks.
Rove, shut your verystupid pie hole.
I want to see boehner march over in his dominatrix outfit and publicly whip obammy.
The GOP-wing of the Democrat party just wants to get their fair share of the goodies every now and then.
The only score settling Rove wants is with conservatives.
FUKR
I agree with him.
You don’t get ahead by getting even. But you CAN get even by getting ahead.
Advancing popular Conservative ideals should be the priority, rather than doing things to stick it to Obama that may feel good but will get us know where.
Unleashing all of the House Legislation that Harry Reid has bottled up in the Senate would be a good start. Make Dems vote on it, send it to Obama and dare him to veto it.
Start doing the poison pill/death by a thousand cuts on Obamacare. Build things that undermine it into popular bills, pass them and send them forward.
Better fund DoD. Pass legislation compelling (through funding mandates) CDC to actually combat the Ebola outbreak, etc.
