'CRUSH CORBETT' RALLY HELD IN PITTSBURGH'S ALLEGHENY UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST CHURCH

10/8/2014-- 8:20 PM

The Internal Revenue Service does not look kindly to church involvement in political campaigns, but one Pittsburgh church seems to be weighing into the Pennsylvania Gubernatorial race in a manner you probably don't expect.

According to a source in Pittsburgh's North Side (who is not voting for current Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett), a 'Crush Corbett' rally was literally held tonight at 7:30 inside the city's Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church.

'Crush Corbett' and 'Dump Corbett' banners and signs can be seen outside the church building, where organizers told our source that the anti-Corbett rally was being held.

'I don't know who was in charge of the event but the people walking around seemed familiar with the church and it looked like a church event,' said the source, who provided photos.

'I was shocked that this kind of politics was being held on church property. I'm not voting for Corbett but this is why people hate politics. This was embarrassing.'

I am at Ground Zero of the fracking boom, and can tell you many of these companies already have plans to pack-up and leave town if Wolf gets his way.

In fairness, although the gathering Fr Z refers to took place at a UUA church, the gathering was an interfaith gathering of mostly Protestants.

Unitarianism really isn’t a church.

Obama "American" grandparents were Unitarians.... at the same time grandpa Dunham was comrades with Communist Party member Frank Marshall Davis and having Comrade Davis mentor his grandson Barrack Hussein.

I guess all we can hope for now is the GOP will retain control of the PA state legislature and Wolf won’t get his way, even if elected.

Someone around the fringes of the family tree married a Unitarian. From talking with her it was pretty clear they did not believe in God, nor in much of anything.

Voters here are pretty dense because when their local school board hikes their property tax they don’t blame the board for spending like drunken sailors. They blame Harrisburg for not “fully funding” them (with bags of cash which apparently materialize out of thin air)

Democrats really only get into trouble in this state when they start talking about gun control.

What exactly is going on in PA and why is Corbett so far down?

The libs hate Corbett. Most of it has to do with school funding. The teachers unions are rabidly anti-Corbett. The government employee union hate him too because if he's re-elected he'll privatize the liquor stores, which are currently staffed by 60k per year retail clerks.

Corbett still has a chance. He needs to hammer home that Wolfe is going to tax the heck out of the fracking industry which is about the only bright spot in the PA economy. One plus we have going for us is that the governor's race is in the off election years. We can hope the African American Philadelphia vote won't bother getting to the polls.

If the teachers unions are rabidly anti-Corbett, maybe he isn’t so bad after all.

If the UUs hate Corbett he must be great.

They get the tax breaks given to churches... that makes them a church.

If they are a “church” under tax law then they are also subject to having that status revoked for participating in electioneering.

Yes, I am not saying I won’t vote for him. I certainly am proudly. He’s not a total RINO and he has done a great deal to make PA a powerhouse in energy exploration. I am sure the same idiot union members who have jobs thanks to him will vote against him. His opponent, Wolf, is leading mostly because of ads making him look like a pragmatist former successful business man. In reality he’s just another leftist. I think the winter made Corbett look bad too...the roads are a mess still.

Yep. They leave the mess they voted for and keep voting the same way in unspoiled territory. Hate them all.

He does seem to not fight and get down and dirty. He needs to be out there on camera getting the message out. He just seems bored. It’s sad.

The worst thing that happened to this country was when government took over most of education. Now, government schools are the largest employer in many counties. School employees at all levels always turn out to vote for what gives them more money, more power, and less accountability.

Where is that separation of church and state group that Barry somebody runs? Someone should ask him about this.
