A former stepson and stepmother are finally due to tie the knot on Saturday after fighting for months with French authorities for the right to marry.
Elisabeth Lorentz, 48, will marry Eric Holder, three years her junior, in the small village of Dabo in Alsace-Lorraine, northeastern France.
She was previously married to Mr Holder's father but the couple are not blood relatives. Nonetheless, French law prohibits all unions between stepchildren and step-parents even former ones.
The couple pleaded their case through the courts right up to the Elysee Palace, only to receive a signed letter from President Francois Hollande last year reconfirming that such marriages are banned.
They finally obtained the right to marry from a local court in north-east France in June. The prosecutor's office opposed the decision but did not appeal.

Yep times sure have changed.
I was once a young man and had those desires. But I was fearful. I was afraid a girl might get pregnant. I was afraid of VD. I was afraid of gossip. A friend of the family had to marry his girlfriend at age 18, which also scared me. I didn’t want that to happen to me.
It may sound odd to people today. But fears of consequences helped keep me out of trouble.
I wasn’t 19, but I fell in love with my best friend in the whole world, my beloved. I was 24 years younger, and in my late 40s. What did I see in him?? Omg, what did I NOT see in him????? He was wonderful. Loving. Very, very smart. Kind. Amazing. I could go on.....
Oh yeah, his best feature? He loved ME beyond all measure. It was wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.
France only outlwed incest about 4 years ago, I guess some judges haven’t been reading the new laws.
“Pretty soon you will be able to marry your dog.”
Where have you been?

Oh man am I sorry I clicked on this one.
Why is that? The title was 'reasonably' descriptive and most of the thread respondents so far are known to be litterbox-trained at minimum. What is here that you didn't already expect? You weren't expecting the people the article was referencing to be stylish-looking, were you?
(((snicker)))
Woody Allen with a twist...
They see someone who is mature. They see someone who clearly knows what they want. They see someone who is established. They see someone who is more likely to only be interested in them, and not the other ten young women where ever they go.
Nineteen year old guys aren’t exactly mature. I’ll grant you that 19 year old women aren’t either, but they’re light years ahead of the guys their age generally.
Am I defending the guy here? Not really. I’m not convinced this is a good idea.
There are some cultures around where young guys simply are not interested in settling down. Then, of those who are, they aren’t what the young woman is looking for.
Well, you can’t fault a woman for not “settling”, if that is the right word, for someone who isn’t quite right for her. Whether due to age, maturity, or any other reason.
I guess I have a bias towards being involved with someone your own age. But I admit it’s a bias, thinking you have more in common with someone your age. And I admit that I don’t want to tell someone else what qualities are important in a relationship. All of us have to decide that for ourselves.
I sent you a FReep Mail response.
