A former stepson and stepmother are finally due to tie the knot on Saturday after fighting for months with French authorities for the right to marry.
Elisabeth Lorentz, 48, will marry Eric Holder, three years her junior, in the small village of Dabo in Alsace-Lorraine, northeastern France.
She was previously married to Mr Holder's father but the couple are not blood relatives. Nonetheless, French law prohibits all unions between stepchildren and step-parents even former ones.
The couple pleaded their case through the courts right up to the Elysee Palace, only to receive a signed letter from President Francois Hollande last year reconfirming that such marriages are banned.
They finally obtained the right to marry from a local court in north-east France in June. The prosecutor's office opposed the decision but did not appeal.

Mammy, how I love you, how I love you
My dear “old” Mammy.
yeah I hope one of them has dental insurance.
"I'll take $$$$$$$$$$$ for $200, Alex!"
Can you figure it out?
I hope Woody Allen gets a wedding invitation....
Or she might like being an older man's treasure rather then a young male's hook-up.
A large percent of young men treat girls like tissues. Use them and throw them away. If you don't want to be treated like that finding an older man who will cherish you can be an alternative.
Soooo...
How come you can say "Frenchman" but you can't say "Chinaman"...like Beckel did?
What if he's a French citizen of Chinese immigrant parents? Would he be a French-Chinaman?
Relations and entering the same woman as your father once did I think is strictly off limits. But whatever.....
That’s very cruel; my dog is deeply offended by the comparison. :-)
Well, we could write an entire book about men using women as tissues and discarding them. Especially younger men.
Younger men today have grown up in a time in which it is considered okay to have sex with any number of partners, any gender of partners. They have grown up in a time in which they find the girls are willing to have casual sex with them, with no strings attached.
Some young men do have morals and standards. I’m proud to know many family and friends of that caliber. But, just saying, young men today have grown up in a time when our culture approves of recreational sex, then you move on to the next girl. Too many young men have fallen into the mindset of that’s what you do with a girl.
“But I wonder sometimes, what does the girl see in the older man when they hook up with somebody so much older?”
‘Daddy’ and ‘Dollar Signs!’ :)
My brother got married last week. He’s been single for about 34 years and is 59. His bride is 32.
And yeah, I think it’s nuts. In ten years she’s going to be married to a very old man and be in her prime.
You’re a better person than I am. I shrieked when I saw their picture. It was scary!!!
Sacre Bleu! The “bride” looks much older than 48. Maybe she spent a lot of time sunbathing, all over. All she needs is a corncob pipe and a sailor hat to look like Popeye after too much Prednisol steriod.
Back in the dark ages when I was dating I found that one quick way to separate out the men from the males was to tell them that I intended to be a virgin on my wedding night.
Some dropped me right there. Some thought they could talk me out of it. A few told me they respected my choice but was I really sure.... And then there was the one I married who looked at me and said, "OK."
That was not the only reason I married him but it was certainly a factor.
Yes, I did marry a guy who was older then me. First marriage for both of us.
Both of my sons were in love with me at some point was they grew up. They told me they were going to marry me when they grew up. LOL
Feel sorry for this guy hung up on his step mom.
