DNA testing was inconclusive on soiled diapers thought to have been left by Pennsylvania police ambush suspect Eric Frein, the FBI said Friday.
The diapers had been exposed to the elements, so "you can’t say one way or the other" whether Frein wore them, said Edward Hanko, special agent in charge of the Philadelphia FBI office.
State police announced last week they had discovered diapers in the northeastern Pennsylvania woods where Frein is believed to be hiding, and that he might have worn them so he could remain stationary for long periods of time.

That's not how real woodsmen do it. They dig a hideout in such a way that it cannot be found even you stand on top of it. There are stories from the days of World War II about how Germans (special forces) and Russians (guerillas) were building those. Before the war USSR built and stocked many underground bases that were plain impossible to find without knowing.
The police's idea that the man would be sitting motionless under some bush is ridiculous; but they think this way only because that's what *they* would have done in that situation, not knowing any better. An outdoorsman would find a cave, or a lair of some animal. H3ll, he'd climb inside and then leave a dead skunk near the entrance. A cave protects the fugitive from elements and allows him to eat and exercise. That is, if the man is still within the perimeter.

I just wonder why the FBI is involved at all. Normally the FBI enters only if interstate, kidnapping, or other crimes of a federal nature. That being said, I’m sure the crime lab is extremely efficient in processing diapers .... “Hey, FBI check this sh!t out”!
From what I’ve seen on TV there are a bunch of agencies fielding SWAT Teams, regular officers dressed up as soldiers, and just other police types wandering around all expecting they will be the next “Pat Garrett” to nail the guy. (PS I don’t think ex-SF, SEALS, or Rangers “waddle”, even really old ones, so they must be out of sight hiding from the TV cameras).
The real question is, Why are the Taxpayers paying for this Illegal Hunt?? Isn’t getting SHOT AT part of the Job Description?? They tell us it is all the time in commercials during pay disputes. Maybe the Taxpayers should demand that the Police Officers stand out in the open in the middle of town to draw the guy out, if they get shot, well that’s the job they signed up for.
Unless of course they do this for EVERY CASE.

Yeah, there is a difference — Frein, himself, has committed murder. His LEO pursuers have not.
Just because *some* cops are evil, I won’t root for a murderer to kill some other random group of cops who have not been proven evil.
What interests me the most about this whole scene, however, is that a THOUSAND LEO with probably ten times that many supporting them have not been able to bring him in.
I’m mindful of the possibility of a day to come when many of us might collectively be the opponents of what passes for “law enforcement”. The knowledge that they are NOT invincible might come in handy.

If this guy shot some “civies” instead of cops, would the manhunt be this massive and prolonged? My guess is they would have had a handful of cops search for 3 or 4 days and call it good.
A thousand LEO “have not been able to bring him in” because they have extremely strict rules of engagement. They have seen him, yet the LEO encounters have not been close enough to verify 100% that it was absolutely him so they could fire immediately. This has allowed him to quickly sprint away and disappear into the woods again. The searchers have not fired once during this entire investigation and I find their restraint admirable. Of course, it has allowed him to repeatedly escape and the search to have to drag out further. On the other hand, we don’t have innocent bystanders or random vehicles shot at wildly as in other famous manhunts.
Their lack of USING force, however, shouldn’t be mistaken as lack of HAVING force.
