The North Korean capital has been placed under lockdown, according to sources with Pyongyang, raising new questions about the stability of Kim Jong-un's regime.
Quoting sources within North Korea, the respected New Focus International news web site has reported that a ban on new travel passes to leave or enter Pyongyang was introduced on September 27.
And while the North Korean authorities have in the past limited access to the capital, the latest restrictions even apply to permanent residents of Pyongyang, who are by definition the elite of the regime.
"This sort of action suggests there has either been an attempted coup or that the authorities there have uncovered some sort of plot against the leadership," Toshimitsu Shigemura, a professor at Tokyo's Waseda University and an authority on North Korean affairs, told The Telegraph.
"If it is a military-backed coup, then the situation in Pyongyang will be very dangerous and I have heard reports that Kim has been moved out of the capital," he said.

All the opposition has to do is throw a donut out on the front steps!

there’s opposition?
a donut would cost a fortune probably
I think even the Ebola virus would have better sense then to enter North Korea. Other than their fat boy leader, most of the potential hosts would be emaciated walking skeletons. Also, I doubt the North Korea would feel any compassionate restrictions if someone was found with the disease. He'd be immediately incinerated, along with everyone he might have been in contact.
When I saw the North Korean news coverage actually showing Kim Jung Un stumbling along and grimacing, my first thought was that it was strange that they allowed him to be shown in such a condition. Then I guessed gout (which several foreign media have since reported). But still, why did they allow this to be shown publicly? Perhaps it was because no one felt secure enough to point it out without seeming to show lack of respect for the leader.
Then there was another possibility: could Kim have been poisoned? I still think that this is a possibility which should not be eliminated from consideration.
Then there are several suspects. Of course, he had killed his aunts husband, who was a loyal aide for both his father and grandfather. That meant a whole organization of privileged functionaries would have a motive.
Another is that foreign agents engineered this. I think that the prime suspects would be the DPRKs friends: China or Russia. Either one would prefer a regime in Pyongyang which would be more predictable and cooperative. The Chinese are the long-time supporters of the DPRK, but have shown disgust and impatience recently. The Russians have been lavishing aide on the DPRK regime, and would like to get back to their old position of influence there, and outflank China. They are historically great masters at the use of poison for political murders.
China probably really does not want another, rival nuclear power in Asia. They perhaps know that progress is being made by the Pyongyang regime, slowly but surely, toward the really dangerous situation of a nuclear-armed DPRK. Unlike the USA, which is just sitting and waiting for Iran to get the bomb, China will act. Maybe they already have!
lol
good one
“Soylent Nork is dissidents!”
Not outside the realm of possibility. ;-)
Kim Jong-Un’s sister reportedly running N. Korea ....while he recovers from ankle surgery? Lots of reports...none confirmed.
I think Kim is merely a figurehead.
"Uno has a good heart, but he's weak and he's stupid."
He might be, or maybe he’s finally pushed the generals to the point where it is in their best interest to be rid of him. When those other generals and their families around them are being fed to the dogs it doesn’t take long to figure out that they need to stem the bleeding at the source.
(”It rubs the rotion in ... “)
The problem is the average person in NoKo doesn’t know about the machinations that go on behind the scenes. They look to Kim as a kind of God, just as his predecessors. How they would react if he was deposed, that would be interesting to see.
I have heard reports that Kim has been moved out of the capital,” he said.
Well, here’s hoping only half of him made it out.
Kim Jong does like his KPOP!
