Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf says she was saddened and "very angry" with the man who carried Ebola from Monrovia to Dallas.
Sirleaf was speaking Thursday in an exclusive interview with CBC News senior correspondent Adrienne Arsenault.
"With the U.S. doing so much to help us fight Ebola, and again one of our compatriots didn't take due care, and so, he's gone there and put some Americans in a state of fear, and put them at some risk, and so I feel very saddened by that and very angry with him, to tell you the truth."
Sirleaf also disclosed that the man, identified in U.S. reports as Thomas E. Duncan, worked in the private sector with courier company DHL.
She said the man had passed temperature tests, and "some very stringent and very precautionary measures" at the Monrovia airport.
"But the fact that he knew [he was exposed to the virus] and he left the country is unpardonable, quite frankly," she added. "I just hope that nobody else gets infected."
She suggested she'll have to consult lawyers to decide what to do with the man when he returns home......

Well, Obama sent 3,000 of our soldiers there so they could get it...so I guess we deserve a little recognition.
I appreciate the Liberian President raising awareness of this issue.
But seriously, the WHO and CDC have not done the world any favors by saying this virus is hard to catch.
One article said they thought the pregnant woman was having pregnancy related issues not ebola. So this guy may not have realized he was exposed. He may not have intentionally lied when he said on a form in Liberia that he had not been around anyone infected.
That view is backed up by the fact that he went to his girl friend in Dallas and exposed her and her 5 children.
I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt. And given that he did drive an sick pregnant woman to the hospital, he may not even be a bad guy.
You want to blame someone blame American customs for allowing people who have been in those countries to fly in the first place without a quarantine period. Blame the hospital who sent him home with antibiotics despite him telling a nurse that he had been in Liberia. Blame WHO and CDC for not taking this disease seriously.
It was going to get here anyway. Why did the Ebola epidemic happen? Who caused it? Will the answer given by people determine the extent of the spread for them?
Typhoid Mary... How about Ebola Tommy?
This guy’s a gal. An impressive one at that.
Liberia was just getting over its civil war and related atrocities under her leadership, then Ebola broke out, damaging their hopes to develop economically. Really makes me sad.
I'd wondered that, too. One report said he worked for Federal Express in Liberia (and abrupty quit his job). And relatives in the US might have sent him some money.
Or something sinister.

Don’t forget the TV movie made of his life, the bestselling ghost written book, the rounds of interviews, celebrity support.
He’ll be lauded as a hero. Count on it.
She’s upset but doesn’t need to be. This incident won’t decrease US aid to Liberia but double it.
Looks like Jerimiah Wright in a head wrap...
Well I’m glad at least ONE of our countries has a responsible President...
IIRC, it was a transportation company.
Liberia is very pro-America. You find more virulent anti-Americanism right here than you do in many other countries.

Eeeee-bolllll-aaaaaa ping!
Bring Out Your Dead
Were gonna need
a bigger cart!
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death... >
Thanks for the ping!
Youre Welcome, Alamo-Girl!
