BARRETT TOWNSHIP — State officials call it a rare move. By executive order, hunting and trapping are temporarily banned in seven townships in the Poconos as law enforcement continue to comb the woods for suspected killer Eric Frein.

Those townships are Price, Barrett, and Paradise in Monroe County and Blooming Grove, Greene, Porter, and Lehman in Pike County.

Officials believe it is just too dangerous for hunters to be in those woods with Frein still on the loose.

It's a good bet that this move will prove less than popular   d:^)

Did you see where 2 PSP troopers fell out of a tree stand yesterday and had to be air lifted to hospital?

Too dangerous for hunters to be there because of falling cops.

On an interesting side note. More hunters are injured or killed falling out of tree stands than are by firearms.

Falling out of a tree stand is no laughing matter...worked with a guy who fell out of his tree stand...shattered his ankle and foot...he was in a, ‘boot’, for about 6 months...

With the terrain here in PA we also lose quite a few to heart attacks as they’re dragging their kill back to the truck.

The priceless part was: .. both men fell to the ground and were treated by tactical medics at the scene.

OK, PA. Finally I know which state. Mr. Mercat and I just drove through that part of the country. I’m guessing 3/4 of the hunters are ignoring this directive.

I liked how both of them were standing IN the old, wooden tree stand “when the floor gave way”.

Unfortunately, common sense isn’t common.

The big question: Will Eric Frein be given an NPR show and allowed to give any college commencement addresses? If not, why not?

I would not ignore this directive.

Unless I did not mind getting shot by a cop who thought I looked like Frein.

Give each licensee a 6 pack and turn him loose. Its a good bet that they will shoot someone and maybe the perp.

The hunters would probably increase the odds of finding him.

At this point it's rather hard to imagine they'd do any worse than what's been going on to date.
