White House: No, We Don't Think We Should Ban Flights From Ebola Countries
Townhall ^ | October 1, 2014 | Katie Pavlich

Speaking from the White House Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest dodged questions about why flights from countries with Ebola outbreaks are still being accepted to the United States. He did not detail any future plans to stop flights from those countries, or to track connections through Europe to those countries, despite the first case of Ebola showing up in the U.S. after a Liberian man went to a funeral in West Africa and then returned home to Dallas.

In his justification of the administration continuing to allow flights, Earnest argued that because people carrying Ebola don't have symptoms when they get on planes, there isn't a need to limit travel.

Earnest said Ebola will be handled through "rigorously applying medical procedures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control."

Everything is under control...

This is the first case of Ebola and now your regular Joe is finally hearing about it. If the people he was exposed to get sick, especially the medical workers who treated him and sent him home Americans will start insisting that we not accept anyone in this country who is from an Ebola stricken country or else quarantine them for 21 days..

If Ebola were coming from Israel he’d be ready to enforce a quarantine.

They want it here. There’s not single thing they’ve done to suggest otherwise.

The Presidents first responsibility is to “Protect the United States from all enemies both foreign and domestic”. He can’t even get that right.

Did he really say this? This statement makes no sense whatsoever. If someone is in the incubation period of the infection when they boarded a plane, they could be a symptomatic but still become infectious in the near future. It's a reason for restricted travel, not allowing it.

What am I missing here? Are all these people imbeciles?

That's what I thought too, but there's so much misinformation and disinformation...

And how about the incompetence at the hospital? The first time he went there they failed to ask him if he'd traveled recently. We are ruled by morons.

Yes he went to a funeral in Liberia for his landlord’s daughter whom he CARRIED to the hospital and back home again because the hospital had no space and was unable to admit her. She died from Ebola soon after. Then this joker , knowing he has most definitely been exposed to Ebola, hops a plane and heads to Dallas where his sister lives. Four people that were associated with the deceased women in Liberia have already died from Ebola.

“White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest says Ebola does not pose a ‘significant risk’ to Americans”

Although I doubt this is what he meant but he may have a point because it is the Liberians in Dallas that have the greater risk of coming in contact with infected people just off the plane from Liberia.

The man in Dallas was vomiting all over the sidewalk in front of his apartment building before the EMT could get him into the ambulance exposing numbers of predominately African residents to the virus.

It takes a special kind of STUPID to come up with that "reasoning."

Earnest argued that because people carrying Ebola don't have symptoms when they get on planes, there isn't a need to limit travel.

And because there isn't a bus currently zooming through an intersection there isn't a need to get out of the middle of the street.

Got it.

Since the White House sees no problem, perhaps the White House should invite all newly arriving people from Ebola infected African states to the White House or Congress for tours. To show Americans there is little risk.

Maybe a photo op of President Obola going to Dulles International in D.C. to shake the hands with the newly arriving just to show everyone there is nothing to worry about.
