Secret Service Director Julia Pierson is facing bipartisan pressure to consider resigning, on the heels of her Capitol Hill testimony on major security failures that have thrown into doubt the safety of the president and his family.
Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, who aggressively questioned Pierson at the House hearing, told Fox News that Pierson should either be fired or resign.
Afterward, the top Democrat on the House oversight committee, Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., appeared to call for the same. He told MSNBC that he did "not feel comfortable with her in that position, and that his confidence and trust in her had eroded.
Asked about Cummings remarks, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi concurred: If Mr. Cummings thinks she should go, I subscribe to his recommendation, she said.
The Maryland lawmaker, though, later clarified on Twitter that I have not decided about Pierson, but I'm not comfortable about the safety of the President of the United States of America.
Nevertheless, Cummings said he would speak Wednesday with Pierson about his concerns.

Why isn’t Clapper being asked to resign?
Tie this with the IRS.
Everyone goes, or nobody goes.
Does anyone really care?
I care about what Lois Lerner has done to our Rights, what Obamacare has done to our Constitution, what a suffocating Federal Bureaucracy has done to our legal system and economy, what 40% real taxation rates has done to our lives, and most importantly, what mass immigration has done to change our country into something it was not ever before.
If BHO isn’t concerned about some upset vet barging the gates, maybe he should offer the guy a cup of coffee, ask him what his grievances are, and let it go at that.
The rest of us could care less. It’s his call.
I'm just not comfortable with him period.
Rather ask if Democrats are trying to get the President & Family killed by supporting the Director.
Then slam the Democrats for their War on Women, after all she was doing the best she could and really, really wanted to protect the President & First Family, that the men resented working for a woman.
...two can play the game!
Are you suggesting that the jumper incident was a setup for some nefarious political shenanigans, and it's backfiring?
I downloaded Machiavelli's "The Prince" years ago from Gutenberg, and never got around to reading it.
“bipartisan!?”
WTF is wrong with those Republicans?
Affirmative action hires not doing too well.
Julia Pierson
Has anybody read this clowns bio?
She worked at Disney as one of the characters in costume and apparently was only put in charge of the SS because she is a woman and had seniority.
The guy only appoints minorities, women, and bull dykes to any position that has to be filled.
Give her a raise and keep our fingers crossed. . . .
As regards this rather lax Secret Service vigilance - it may have roots in setting up an assassination attempt, so the SS is being “negligent” in hopes of attracting such an attempt.
But what if their “negligence” allows the attempt to succeed all too well?
Somebody high up in the circles of the Current Regime is playing a dangerous game here.
If anything should cause the Current Occupant to be “scared straight”, this should be it.
Reduce 0bamas security. Long live Ambassador Stevens!
just said that to my wife. They’re crafting their message to the poll numbers and they’ll need to check with NOW or the lesbo groups before they make a statement.
I think Rep. Elijah Cummings is right on this one. I think he would feel the same if it was a Republican in office. There’s only one side in this issue... and that’s protecting the President, his family and the House he lives in...
