There are four places in the United States set up to handle a patient sickened by the Ebola virus, and Missoula is one of those.
....
And any hospital equipped to care for a tuberculosis patient can care for an Ebola patient, according to Dr. George Risi, an infectious disease specialist who recently returned from spending 20 days in a Sierra Leone Ebola ward. Accompanied by St. Patricks intensive care nursing director Kate Hurley, Risi helped local clinic staff care for up to 95 patients at a time. While untreated Ebola kills more than 70 percent of its victims, more than half of those who made it to the clinic recovered.

The three rooms are qualified to handle Level 4 safety concerns. Level 1 has protection against things generally not dangerous to healthy people, like brewers yeast. Level 2 is the safety margin of the standard hospital microbiology lab, where clinicians test for routine diseases like chicken pox or staph infections.
Level 3 spaces can handle infectious diseases spread by air, like influenza, bubonic plague or yellow fever that have known cures. Level 4 units are for exotic agents that may or may not have cures available, or appear in highly concentrated or modified forms from a research institution.

The other U.S. sites cleared for Ebola treatment are in Bethesda, Maryland; Atlanta; and Omaha, Nebraska. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control have deployed teams of health workers to numerous sites in West Africa to slow the epidemics progress. U.S. military personnel have also been sent there to build hospital clinics

Montana is one of 4 sites ready for Ebola?
Montana??
“Moving to Montana soon. Gonna be a dental-floss tycoon.”
Wonder if they have isolation suits for transporting Ebola exposed people ?

Too bad the suspected patient in Dallas didn’t check in there.
Montana??

There is a suspected Ebola case in Dallas, TX hospital.
Amen to that! Work right across the street from Presbyterian Hospital. All my doctors are there.Press and hospital waiting for CDC results. Then what? Try to find all the people this person came in contact with on his trip back to this country. Airline, DFW airport, family....????
Plenty of room for internment camps...
yea, why Montana? I would think that you would have the quarantine hospitals in major cities near to the coast.
The ultimate treatment centers for the worst of the worst, are built by the research centers that work with the worst bio agents and infectious diseases.
Combined General and Maryland “Freak State” PING!
Then maybe it is in Montana because it is so isolated.
Nope, “”And thats why St. Patrick has a care and isolation unit. The federal Rocky Mountain Laboratories in Hamilton deals with those kinds of substances on a daily basis, and has done so for years. Some of its researchers are on the forefront of developing a vaccine for Ebola, and have worked with many other unusual disease organisms.
The other U.S. sites cleared for Ebola treatment are in Bethesda, Maryland; Atlanta; and Omaha, Nebraska.””

US hospitals should be more prepared for all those illegal immigrant kids bringing new strains of TB and polio.
Obama has assured America that no one here will ever, ever, be at risk from this deadly virus.
"American officials are, however, advising Americans to be alert but to not fret excessively over the outbreak.
While the Ebola virus could potentially be transported by travelers to another country by a plane ride, according to officials at the CDC, the actual chance of this developing in a serious public health risk to those living in the US is small, Dr. Robert Glatter wrote in Forbes on Tuesday. "

Eeeee-bolllll-aaaaaa ping!
Bring Out Your Dead
Were gonna need
a bigger cart!
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
Why does the CDC own a patent on Ebola invention?
