This is not going to turn out well.
“First I have heard of CDC sending personnel BEFORE results are in. I would hate to think the CDC is already starting to shade the truth about Ebola in the US.”
I had the same thought. Actually, DAMAGE CONTROL and CONCEALMENT were the things that ran through my mind.
First TX case.. we had speculated earlier pop-ups due to oil&gas.....
They know the results sounds pre-emptive to me.
You're kidding, right? Do you seriously think they'll tell us about Ebola in the US unless the ptb are pretty sure it's starting to spread?
APT makes masks to wear when spread of disease is a threat. Their stock is way up.
Ebola (((ping)))

What I wonder about is how long was the guy walking around sick? Obviously he went to the hospital because he felt sick enough to go to the hospital. That's pretty darn sick. How long was he walking around?
We still don’t want to quarantine travel from the countries, no, no, no, can’t do that, it would send the wrong message /s Better to send over troops, I received a dressing down on this forum last week for suggesting shutting down travel, but hey what do I know I’m just a dumb hick. Now we have a whole plane load of people potentially infected in the U.S.
They know the results.
This case illustrates (or is about to illustrate) the weakness in the “official position”, which implies that suspected cases can be managed differently than actual, proven cases.
As of two weeks ago, we got a high-sounding memo that said, in part, “all hospitals in the US must prepare to manage a patient with (or exposed to) Ebola”.
However, their management of actually existing cases is quite different from “routine” droplet, contact, and standard precautions.
If and when they announce that the Dallas patient has tested positive, there is going to be a s***storm that will, in all probabililty, disable this hospital for at least three weeks. For one thing, no licensed waste handler is going to pick up their trash (fact). EPA stands ready to ban on-site incineration. There will be exposed workers who have been having relations with spouses and boyfriends, and some sort of quarantine is going to have to be imposed.
Now, multiply by fifty or a hundred.
It is insanity to permit outbound flights from Monrovia, Conakry, Freetown, or Bamako.
Note that the dysfunction about to overtake us is not going to be caused by actual Ebola cases (I hope). It’s going to be caused by OSHA, by the EPA, by the Just Us Department, and fifty other regulatory agencies that don’t know any more about epidemiology than they know about f***ing (to quote e great man).
Well that will mesh nicely with the outbreak of TB brought in my all those illegals.
Anyone got a biohazard suit for sale??
Even more ridiculous is the local county health official’s comments regarding the situation; he basically came out and said that this patient posed no threat to the general public and that his office was “looking into how many people the patient may have come into contact with over the last few days.” And yes, the moron said this with a straight face...
Nothing spreads a Ebola faster than an air plane.

First-Ever Case of Ebola Diagnosed in U.S.
Sep. 30, 2014 4:57pm Pete Kasperowicz
A patient in Dallas has tested positive for Ebola, the first time the virus has been diagnosed inside the United States.
A report from Fox News said the Dallas County Health Department said the patient was recently in Africa, where the virus has claimed the lives of thousands in an epidemic that has spread across country borders.

The CDC was probably activating ahead of the test results because the patient's past history includes confirmed contact with Ebola patients. Case history alone is sufficient to begin responding. Had the patient not been known to have a history of contact with an Ebola patient, they would have waited until the results were in because they would not have any reason to think the patient would actually test positive.

Bring Out Your Dead
Were gonna need
a bigger cart!
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
