If a white cop had shot and killed that 14-year-old kid in Houma last Tuesday, there's a good chance Houma would be a household word. The town dodged a racial bullet.
Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's deputies responded in force to reports armed "men" had entered an abandoned house. Houma is not some sprawling, crime-riddled metropolis; chances are good everyone knew or could see the house was abandoned.
It wasn't quite 6 p.m. - plenty of light left. Cameron Tillman, a black 14-year-old freshman at Ellender Memorial High School answered the door when the cops knocked. He was shot and killed. Initial reports were unclear on whether the teenager had been armed, although there was a vague mention of "weapons on the scene." Later, we learned the boy had a BB gun.
When the story broke Tuesday night, no details on the race of either Tillman or the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's deputy were provided. It was only subsequent reports that revealed the cop who killed the teenager was black, and now the story is quiet.
Then on Thursday a story emerged that a South Carolina state police trooper had shot an unarmed man in Columbia. The victim was trying to get his wallet out of his car when the trooper fired three shots. Fortunately, the trooper was such a lousy shot he only hit the man once in the hip. The incident was captured on the dashboard camera of the trooper's car; he has been fired and arrested.
How do we know about that obscure incident? The media has flooded the zone there. The Los Angeles Times sent one of their top reporters out to do a story on the wounding. CNN and ABC News are on the case.
In South Carolina, however, the trooper was a white man and the poor guy

Teen killed by Terrebonne Parish deputy was holding BB gun, newspaper reports
I sarcastically made the comment that it "Looks like we dodged a bullet". Maybe the author saw this.sarc
Do the MSM ever send "top" reporters to cover a white being shot? Worse evem.. since Ms Carey was black, did the MSM bother the assign "top" reporters to cover her being shot to death by a swarm of federal agents in D.C.?
The FBI figures below include the majority of all police departments. The point of this reply is to point out that whites are the most likely to die while being arrested for example. The Obama-Holder U.S. Dept. Just Us and the race-grievance industry will of course exploit all shootings to the max vis-a-vis race more than any concern for the poor victim.
The FBI stats show that whites are more likely to die while being arrested and IMO there is no doubt that some of those deaths were the intention of the police.
What about the larger number of whites and Arrest-Related Deaths (ARD)? Why is that okay with Obama, the race-grievance industry, and the media? We never see coverage of questionable ARDs involving whites that's anything close to Ferguson for example.
Arrest-Related Deaths, 2003-2009 - Statistical Tables
"From 2003 through 2009, a total of 4,813 deaths were reported to the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) Arrest-Related Deaths (ARD) program."
Of these, about 6 in 10 deaths (2,931) were classified as homicide by law enforcement personnel, and 4 in 10 (1,882) were attributed to other manners of death.

To me this shows that it is not a racial thing. It happens to all races. These figures however do not show those thought "murdered" by police. I have not yet located data for recent years. Why can't I find data for recent years? I do not know.. maybe the Dept of Just Us and Race-Grievance Industry don't want it known that whites are the most likely to die being arrested.
“”Looks like we dodged a bullet”
Nah, apparently we dodged a BB. ;-)
I should have pointed out in my reply #2 that the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) Arrest-Related Deaths (ARD) program gets data from multiple sources and the stats are not just the FBI.
Race baiters won’t talk about white-on-white, black-on-white or black-on-black police abuse because that doesn’t help their cause.
Law & Order Conservative won’t talk about any police abuse.
That only leaves the white-on-black abuse to make the national news.
How is there 1 “unknown” in the sex of the person category ?
I guess there wasn’t enough left of the deceased to tell. Or one of many reporting agencies simply did not list that information.
Legally , and technically , an "immitation rifle".
Of course what should count is not their percentage in the overall population but their percentage in the pool of people doing stuff that cause the police to arrest them.
It's expected that whites' crimes outnumber the others due to our majority population. But..
that's right, that even though whites outnumber blacks nowadays at least six-to-one the arrests for murder for example are about even.
I don't think that whites outnumber blacks six-to-one on any crime.
Why do I make it such a big? Because the lucrative race-grievance industry and the MSM employees lie about how black Americans are always the victims.

I notice that there is no separate column for Hispanics, so they are including Hispanics in the totals for whites.
Yes I believe so. Some tables I've seen have "White non-Hispanic" and "Black non-Hispanic"
Every chance they get they "never let it go to waste." Lies or whatever it takes. They "never let it go to waste."
Here there is a modicum of truth in the claims vis-a-vis prison sentences but hardly anything close to the gross victimization claimed by the race-grievance industry and the Obama-Holder Dept of Just Us.
