Jesse 'LJ' Matthew, the man charged with the abduction of missing UVA student Hannah Graham, was accused of rape when he studied at Liberty University, MailOnline can exclusively reveal.
Matthew was expelled from the Christian university founded by Jerry Falwell in Lynchburg, Virginia, in 2002, following the alleged sex attack on a female student but was not charged with any crime, former teammates said.

As a gifted football player, 'LJ' - as he likes to be known - won a sports scholarship to Liberty University after he was named Charlottesville's 'Athlete of the Year' in 1999.

Former Liberty Flames Football captain William Haith said: 'LJ was on the football team. He was a defensive end. He won a sports scholarship for football.
'But he left in 2002. He got into some trouble over sex with a girl. She made a complaint against him. He was put out of the football team because of the complaint. He was kicked out of the university as well.
'The allegation was that he forced himself upon a girl at a party and had sex with her. The girl said he was aggressive towards her and she filed a complaint against him. He was put off the football team and he was put out of school. Liberty is a very disciplined school with strong religious beliefs.'
Another former teammate, Milton Johnson, claimed: 'LJ was accused of sexual assaulting a girl when he was at Liberty. She was a student at Liberty. He got kicked off the football team and kicked out of the university. He was real rough with her and she ended up in hospital.'
Mr Milton added: 'LJ was awkward around people. He was kind of weird.'

EXCLUSIVE: Man charged with abduction of Hannah Graham was 'expelled from Christian Liberty University after girl claimed he raped her on campus'
“He was real rough with her and she ended up in hospital.’ “
Sounds like he should be playing for FSU with Winston.
Pray for the girl. It may be the only thing left.
Let me guess: Amish perp?
‘Hannah was drunk when she was seen wandering around Charlottesville in the early hours of the morning. Her distraught parents have said that they fear she may have been a victim of ‘foul play’
It’s very sad. Not to say the girl was to blame, but she should not have been alone in the evening and certainly not if she was drinking.
I work at a university and I am always amazed at how gullible and irresponsible young girls are on campus. Their immature conduct and provocative appearance is not wholesome.
It’s almost as if they deny the realities of personal responsibility.
I live in a college town and my wife used to work for a property management company that rented apartments to students. Let’s just say that it’s amazing that some of them are able to wipe their own butts.
Yup.
My son got a football scholarship at a college in NC. A serious shoulder injury sidelined him so he quit football. He told me that every Friday and Saturday night the campus emptied because the majority of the students were off getting drunk and having sex. It was a “Christian” college and drinking and parties were not allowed on campus. He told me that he found about a dozen other people who did not party and they would do some gaming on those nights when all the sex and drinking was going on. He could not wait to get back to Texas and left after one year. He also said that the staff seemed powerless to stop it all.

Whoa.
It’s not looking good for the young lady:(
I don’t understand why she was out wandering the street in early morning hours allegedly drunk. Where were her friends?
That's been my question all along. At some point a friend or friends told her goodnight and left her there alone. I would absolutely never leave my friend alone that time of night, drunk or not.

I had a discussion with a high school girl in class one day about the dangers of dressing slutty and hanging out in frat houses. She felt that she had the “right” to engage in those behaviors when she got to college and not be taken advantage of.
As a father of a daughter I'd had an answer ready. She also has the right to drive in her lane, but if an oncoming semi pulls out to pass the smart thing to do would be to get over on the shoulder instead of stupidly insisting on her “rights”, right into the grill of an 18 wheeler.
Exercising your rights without common sense can lead to a lifetime of regret.

And take a look at the police sketch. Her abduction and murder happened in 2009.
I agree with everything you say. It’s stunning to me that parents are not drilling their daughters about this kind of thing.
I worked with a really pretty girl who unfortunately, was also unrefined and cheesy looking.
She complained that guys didn’t have any respect for her.
I told her: ‘If you want to dress like the carnival is in town and act like a dance-hall girl, then that’s how those guys will treat you.’
Not blaming the young woman, but folks need to get a grip on reality. Back in my days at university, women’s groups regularly mounted “Take back the night!” campaigns, Hoping to make it safe for coeds to stagger around the campus in a drunken haze at 2 a.m. Sorry, that’s akin to a woman hiking the Glacier National Park backcountry alone while menstruating. It’s a good way to be dinner for some hungry grizzly and her cubs.
I suffer from very mild prosopagnosia (I often can’t remember new peoples faces until I have seen them several times) but I looked at this picture and the one on the thread above for a long time, and other than they are both obviously black, I am not seeing a lot of resemblance. So I guess I am missing what you are saying or the point of your post. Could you enlighten me?
If you are alone with a certain type of person, there is always a possibility that you will get raped and certain types of people will say it is your fault.
These days, it doesn’t just apply to women.
