Editor's note: It is the general policy of Northeast Ohio Media Group not to show images of people being killed. We chose to publish this video because it addresses questions that have been raised about the behavior of the suspect and the police.
COLUMBUS, Ohio Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine released a surveillance video Wednesday showing John Crawford III being shot to death by police last month in a Dayton-area Walmart.
DeWine's release of the video and 9-1-1 recording coincided with a Greene County grand jury finding that Beavercreek police were justified in shooting the 22-year-old man, whom they believed was armed with a rifle.
In the footage, Crawford is seen talking on a cell phone and waving what turned out to be an air rifle at the end of a store aisle. Police arrived after a 9-1-1 caller reported that a man was waving around a gun and pointing it at people.

Cops shot him dead within second of showing up.
Ping
The guy was a nutjob and got what he deserved.
Did you watch the video and listen to the 911 caller lying?
Did they even say “drop the weapon?”
If they did, I’m not sure you’d hear it on this video.
It sure wasn’t long after the cops came in that the guy was shot.
It looks really bad to me from the video.
After reviewing the video and listening to the 911 call, the idiot 911 caller was giving incorrect information which have made the responding cops a little too quick on the trigger.
Wow! It’s like the Walmart employee is some kind of sociopath trying to get this guy shot! The cops get equal blame here, no fact finding or verification, just go in and shoot him dead.
Yes. I have also known about this story for awhile. The Racist scum of the NAACP is trying to blow this up into another ferguson. These types need to be at the ass end of a tomahawk missile. The cop was justified in wasting the guy.
Looked like to me they just shot him without warning when he was trying to run away.
Don’t care if the thug was or not doing any of that....you go in a ‘public’ area, no matter where it is, ‘swinging a gun around’ and you get exactly what he got.... End of story.
...”It sure wasnt long after the cops came in that the guy was shot”....
Of course.
Was the guy posing as a threat to anybody?
Was he mock aiming the gun at anybody?
Or is everybody who has a gun fairly deemed a threat by virtue of carrying one?
There were four kids within firing range of the guy while he was there swinging that gun around......a man and his two kids were there prior to the woman and her kids....
The guy needed to go down....period.
i have to assume you knew him personally based on that comment...if not thats a dumbass comment if i ever did see one!
Mike
....”is everybody who has a gun fairly deemed a threat by virtue of carrying one?”....
Most people who carry a gun wouldn’t be ‘swinging it around’ in a wal-mart, or any other place for that matter, as this guy was...he was a threat for just doing that.
I don’t have access to the video, so I cannot confirm whether or not he was doing anything.
Was he acting in a manner that would cause anybody who did not know him to believe he was a threat?
so i should expect to get gunned down when open carry no questions asked?
Have the Dept Of Just Us checkout the ARDs and white men. E.g.,
"In 2010, Las Vegas Metro Police officers shot and killed Erik Scott as he walked out of a suburban Costco store. . . . Erik Scott was a West Point graduate with an MBA from Duke University who enjoyed body building and was a pharmaceutical sales rep."
The FBI stats show that whites are more likely to die while being arrested and IMO there is no doubt that some of those deaths were the intention of the police. I believe that the police were cleared in this case, as IIRC Mr. Scott had a concealed carry and simply did not respond appropriately to the police orders.
It is not a racial issue except for the Obama-Holder Dept. of Just Us, the Race-Grievance Industry, and their like.
What about the larger number of whites and Arrest-Related Deaths (ARD)? Why is that okay with Obama, the race-grievance industry, and the media? We never see coverage of questionable ARDs involving whites that's anything close to Ferguson.
Arrest-Related Deaths, 2003-2009 - Statistical Tables
"From 2003 through 2009, a total of 4,813 deaths were reported to the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) Arrest-Related Deaths (ARD) program."
Of these, about 6 in 10 deaths (2,931) were classified as homicide by law enforcement personnel, and 4 in 10 (1,882) were attributed to other manners of death.

To me this shows that it is not a racial thing. It happens to all races. These figures however do not show those thought "murdered" by police. I have not yet located data for recent years. Why can't I find data for recent years? I do not know.. maybe the Dept of Just Us and Race-Grievance Industry don't want it known that whites are the most likely to die being arrested.
