importing a flood of Mohammed’s little helpers didn’t help matters either.
We could arm the Brits pretty quick if we wanted to though. Heh.
Amazing. Great post.
Brits also pay a Television license , I wonder if they pay the Not Paying Attention Tax as well
One of the clearest thinking anti-gun control writers and speakers was an English constable named Colin Greenwood. He spoke before Parliament and also was a visiting speaker at Cambridge.
He pointed out that as Britain passed more and more gun controls, each time they were accompanied by increased crime.
Before 1919, there were no gun controls at all in Britain except for one very minor one. You could buy machine guns, canons, etc. with no requirements at all.
The one legal requirement was that for handgun purchases you had to purchase a stamp at the Post Office and it was issued as routine, meaning everyone who asked for one, got one.
During that period according to inspector Greenwood, you could count all the armed robberies in the country for a year on the fingers of one hand. Some of the Western Islands of Scotland had never had a serious crime.
Now Britain has a higher rate of home burglaries than the U.S.
Perhaps when UKIP comes to power, they’ll restore the right to bear arms to our Brit friends. Thank our forefathers for having the foresight to INGRAIN this right into our Constitution. The Brits need something similar to the 2nd Amendment.
An important fact to consider is, in England, a dead body that died not of disease or accident is not counted as a murder until the perp has been found and tried*. So a lifeless body that resulted from an anonymous drive-by does not count as a murder until the courts settle everything including naming he suspect and trying them.
No wonder their murder rate is lo low!
Here, a body is counted as a murder if it was not natural causes even if the perp is not named.
*The coroner cannot say a dead body was murdered, because it then prejudges the accused, once the accused is found.
geo 76, “possession of a replica gun...(Sounds like California?)”
Actually, in Cal. It’s now open season for legal execution of looks-like-a-gun, open carry violators. Even applies to children.
THEYRE ALLOWED TO SHOOT CHILDREN ON THE STREET
From OS News Service July 8, 2014
Erick Gelhaus fired 8 large hollow point slugs at 13-year-old Andy Lopez. One missed. Andy, walking down a street in Santa Rosa. (the patrol car chirped, an officer came out shouting then shooting).
R.
I remember an old cartoon from PUNCH back in 1968.
Two British men are walking down the street and see a newspaper, BOBBY KENNEDY MURDERED! One says to the other,...”My God! What is going on over there!”
Yet behind the men lurks the darkened figure labeled “British Crime”.
One of the SCARIEST things that I read about life in Britain was about the nightly “door checks”, where youths would walk down the street and try to open each door they passed. Not force open, but just try to open, in case if was unlocked. If the door was unlocked, then they had FULL RUN of the residence whether anyone was home or not and they preferred people being home as they could, eventually (with a bit of coercion), get those people to cough up their hiding spots.
Needless to say, the residents knew enough to not resist, as causing any harm to the criminals would wipe them out financially and maybe put them in jail.
Try doing a door check in Texas and you’ll have lead through you by the 3rd house.
2nd Amendment bump for later....
Does Nigel have fixing this on his radar? Realizing of course that there are tons of other stuffs o’er there that also needs fixin’. Like exporting all followers of the RoP back to Outer Camelastan either breathing or not - their choice...
And how many islam “yutes” did the UK import between 1997 and 2009???
Drive liberals nuts-
replace gun(as in gun control) with free speech- control, free sex control, free will-control,
See how long before they stop speaking with you.
bttt
As far as people in America and here are concerned, they really are convinced that the UK now is some violent hellhole, and will not be convinced that the UK is overall a safe country to live in, with very low rates of murder, gun crime, gun homicide, serial murder.....
No offence, but most Brits would be astonished to be lectured/criticised on violent crime and violent society by Americans.
Again, I will point out, as I do in every similar thread, that the way the UK collates crime skewes the figures. Thee are 28 violent crimes on the statute books alone. Crimes which in the US aren’t classed as violent are so in the UK.
By figures purely, the US is ‘less violent’ than countries like Sweden, Austria, Finland. Does anyone think that?.
The chart numbers look absurdly high to me.
Compare to the USA in 2012...
Violent crimes: 1.214 million
US Population: 313 million
Violent Crime Rate: 388 Per 100,000
So, England has FIVE times more violent crime than the USA?
Canada has almost THREE times more than the USA?
Very hard to believe those numbers.
