But Kazantsev was no Miss Congeniality at Hofstra University, where she was expelled from her sorority last year for hazing new recruits.
On her resume, Kazantsev lists that she was new member educator and recruitment committee president for the university's chapter of Alpha Phi, a position she reportedly shared with her best friend in the spring term of 2013.
A source told Jezebel that Kazantsev and her friend made the pledges' lives 'a living hell' by calling them names, and berating them over physical flaws.
The terrifying duo reportedly made the new members perform certain physical tasks to the point of bruising and exhaustion.
When someone reported the harsh punishments, Kazantsev and her friend were kicked out of the sorority, near the end of her senior year.
They were banned from attending any sorority events, but allegedly sneaked into the society's end-of-year formal with their dates anyway.
After she was crowned Miss America for 2015 last week, neither the university or the sorority issued statements of congratulations.
When a Jezebel reporter called up the university to ask about a 'high-profile individual who was expelled from her sorority in late April 2013', a representative said 'Was this person, by chance, in Atlantic City last Sunday night?'

When looking for congeniality, Russia is not the first place I would go ;)
But I’ll bet she looks good in a swimsuit.
You hit the nail on the head.
Seems remarkably appropriate given our state of affairs to be “Miss America.”
Facially....meh.
What’s the proverb about a ring in a pig’s snout?
Good grief, that’s Miss America? She looks like the Keebler elf.
There is a photo of her in a swimsuit and after careful review, I have to say she looks innocent of all charges.
However, the photo of her in the evening gown reminds me of the song, “The Homecoming Queen’s Got A Gun.’
Not that that’s a bad thing. She just looks a little crazy.
Not sure what the rules of disclosure on disciplinary action are, but if I were a university rep, there is no way I would have said that. There are all kinds of privacy laws and regulations to run afoul of.
That woman has one BIG mouth.
I don’t think the Keebler elf’s eyes are that far apart.
At first glance I thought this said "... berating them over physical laws."
Like, "You think you can exceed the speed of light you c...s...ing little d..., WELL YOU CAN'T!"
The ship of fools that is the USA chooses such figureheads.
Can you imagine why the Lord might frown?
She also worked for PLANNED PARENTHOOD at an abortion mill.
That alone should cause her to step down from any representation of our country.
her smile is gummy... her eyebrows—not good... i loathe bad eyebrows...
I mean, it just screams from her. There are good looking women and then there are women who look like they are more of a pain, than anything they might have to offer.
Then I saw her "talent" performance.
Either daddy has lots of money, that he generously spread around, or she's VERY GOOD at sucking d---.
SERIOUSLY.
Her body language screams B!T(# that a single guy notices that right off the bat.
She does a talent performance that would have been more appropriate for a junior high kid.
And they crown her Miss America?
Wow, apparently being enough of a bully that you get kicked out of your sorority is no big deal if you have interned at Planned Parenthood, at least per the Miss USA Pageant! Glad I didn’t watch that freak show.
It seems that liberalism has created a society of pussies in today’s age. When I was in high school we had events to join our football team “A Club” that required recruits to push a car all over town with “A club” members sitting atop it. We had our hair cut by members that made us look like monsters and freaks. We were blind folded and made to drink, eat, and lick things unfit for a dog. At least it seemed that way while blindfolded. We had all sorts of vile things poured down our pants. We were dressed up like women and made to parade around town. On and on... No one whined, no one cried, no one died. It was just a rite of passage we had to achieve to become an “A club” member. We took it in stride. I guess you night say men were men.... and sheep were nervous. :)
