Any and all home-grown Islamic terrorism should be able, if need be, to be met by a well-armed civilian militia. The United Kingdom has had two beheadings of members of the public in the last two years, with neither police nor civilians able to prevent it. It has prohibitive gun laws.
With news of the ISIS plot to randomly abduct members of the Australian public and behead them, Australian sentiment on guns is dramatically shifting.
It appears Australians are finally understanding the importance of gun ownership and craving it at a time when the world is increasingly unsafe.

Do you really think, for instance, that Obamacare will ever be repealed?
I doubt that Australian politicians will allow their country be re-armed when the UN is calling the shots (excuse the pun) everywhere in the world on gun possession.
In most Western nations, only criminals, ISIS, Al-Qaeda and their government will be armed.
I guess things are the same there. The Aussies KNEW that if they gave up their guns they would get their guns back when hell froze over.
Hopefully they were crappy or broken junk.
If they weren't, I'm sure the Aussies made sure to "muck" them up a bit.
They're all destined for the smelters anyway.

If we vote for officials who promise to repeal Obamacare and enough of them win, it will happen. If we vote for officials who promise a merciless crack down on illegal immigration and enough of them win, it will happen. If we elect officials who promise to overturn the 1968 gun control act, Great Society programs, burdensome environmental regulations, etc., well, you get the point.
Yet right now how many active threads are there on this forum telling us to just suck it up and vote for the GOP-e, ensuring that nothing gets repealed? We repealed Prohibition and that was a Constitutional Amendment! Democracy works if we use it.
Sometimes there just ain’t no Dingo around to eat the bad guy when you need it to...

The universal constant of all big government philosophies is that the individual is totally incompetent, and can’t be entrusted with firearms, property, free thought or even liberty. Gun control, confiscatory taxation and absolute regulation are just symptoms of a rancorous belief that the state is omnipotent and the individual is allowed to survive only to serve it.
A free people willingly giving up their best means of self-defense. It is unnatural. It is insanity.

Time for Australia to hit the streets in protest of anti gun laws and DEMAND a change for gun ownership, period. Either the people rule, or the criminals, terrorists and idiots rule.
Australia and NZ have some of the toughest immigration laws anywhere, and the woman leader they had told them not to come there, if they could not live as the Australians do....so the only objection should be PRO GUN LAWS and teaching every citizen to arm themselves and how to use the guns. The terrorists do not go to these countries legally. Just like criminals do not buy guns legally either.
And, for even more safety: TWO big Rottweilers, TWO big German Shepherds or TWO big any-dogs GUARDING the homestead will stop anyone COLD. THAT is what doggies DO.
The bad guys will hear the barking, get outta Dodge...and move on to a much more quiet, dog-less house.

I’m guessing that you’ve never read about how easy it is to poison dogs. There’s fast acting poisons, slow acting poisons, medicines that will make your puppy dogs sleep like a baby and medicines that will make then stumble like a drunk. You name it and it is available.
Dogs are good means of defense ONLY if you keep tight controls on them. Don’t allow them to roam free in your yard. Don’t leave their drinking water out where strangers have access to it. The list goes on and on.
