(Reuters) - California Governor Jerry Brown on Friday vetoed two bills that aimed to make baby diaper changing tables in public restrooms as accessible to men as they are to women.
The bills, which recently passed the state's senate and assembly chambers with broad support, would have modified existing state laws to ensure public places, such as movie theatres and shopping malls, have baby changing tables in both mens's and women's restrooms.
"At a time when so many have raised concerns about the number of regulations in California, I believe it would be more prudent to leave the matter of diaper changing stations to the private sector," Brown said.

Even Brown recognizes a “political diddle” when he sees it ( sometimes ).
This is some weird sh*t. Obviously, we have way too many politicians with way too much free time on their hands.
Your really think this is Brown avoiding nonsensical laws?
LOL, it’s because men see him for what he is. A changing table isn’t going to change that.
Women sucker for idiots like Brown in high numbers. Men generally don’t.
Temporary sanity from Gov. Moonbeam.
need 2 year budget cycle, 1-house, 90 day session every other year. Legislator.
I'm worried the citizenry has forgotten how to push back.
How about a law which bans babies from theaters?
They are loud and obnoxious and sometimes they smell
bad too.
I would like to see all political “jobs” be turned into part time political “jobs”. Americans shouldn’t have to put up with scumbag politicians riding their backs 24/7, 365.
Our local “representative” sent an email out some time back asking “If you could pass a law, what law would you write?” or some such...
I replied by telling him he was going in the WRONG DAMN direction! It’s time to start repealing many of the idiotic laws those morons write.
He never replied...par for the course.
Just two days ago I noticed a changing table in the restroom and reflected on the fact that I have seen one being used.
Wow! There is actually a scenario that a RAT doesn't want government to have control of?!
How many men go to the cinema with babies?
A lot of places have “family restrooms” now. I think that is a good idea, esp. for a dad who might be out with a young daughter and needs to take her to the bathroom.
“At a time when so many have raised concerns about the number of regulations in California,...”
Gee, I wonder who’s responsible for that state of affairs...
Dad just needs to go into the women’s restroom and claim he is “mom” for a few minutes.
“Your really think this is Brown avoiding nonsensical laws?”
A few! Last year he vetoed some very bad gun laws. Here he’s like “in the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.” I hate him with a passion, but I hate Arnold the Awful just about as much because he pissed away a lot of opportunities to lead and instead let the RATS (and his maid, although I think she was leading him by some other body part) lead him around by the nose. Eight years of his “leadership” left us in worse shape than it probably would have been with Davis. I think at 74, Brown is trying to find something that he can leave that will be remembered. Personally, his “high-speed rail” will turn out to be a very negative legacy for him, particularly since with the draught, it’s evident to all here, the he and the RATs have done nothing in preparation. As with the Federal government, our only hope is a complete financial collapse. At this juncture, anything short of that and things will go from bad to worse here.
And FWIW, your current governor isn’t anything to shout about either and you brought the country Janet Napolitano and Juan McLame. Just saying your glass house isn’t a whole lot better than ours. The biggest difference is that you have, by comparison, no population and no real national voting strength. Neither party cares a whole lot about Arizona for that reason alone. Given that predicament, rather than trashing us, you should hope that by some means, we are able to regain some semblance of political sanity, otherwise, you’re ultimately done too whether you like it or not.
