Chris Stigall hosted Texas Senator Ted Cruz at the National Constitution Center to discuss the upcoming elections and President Obamas plan to combat ISIL in Iraq and Syria.
(AUDIO-AT-LINK)
Cruz said the government shutdown that Republicans forced last fall has led to the American publics collective rejection of the Affordable Care Act.
As a result of that fight, we elevated the national debate and millions of Americans across this country focused on all the incredible harms, the disaster that is Obamacare, and as a direct consequence of that fight, today President Obamas approval ratings are at the lowest theyve ever been We have laid the foundation that come 2017, a Republican President in the White House will sign legislation repealing every word of Obamacare.
He also believes his party has the political momentum to seize control of both houses of Congress.
My focus is directly on the elections in November, 2014 and 57 days from now, I am convinced Republicans are going to retake the Senate. Were going to retire Harry Reid as Senate Majority Leader.
Cruz stated that America should limit its expectations when confronting conflicts in the Middle East.
The Sunnis and Shiites have been engaged in a sectarian civil war since 632 AD. For the President of the United States to think that America can come and say, throw down your arms and embrace as brothers, is the height of arrogance and ignorance. It is not our job to produce religious reconciliation among the Sunnis and Shiites. It is not our job to transform foreign nations into democratic utopias, to turn Iraq into Switzerland. It is the militarys job to hunt down and kill those who threaten to kill Americans.
I'd love to see a GOP leadership shake up in both house. I'd like to see Gomhert or Jimmy Duncan as Speaker. Duncan doesn't get much mention but he is one of the most consistent Conservatives in the house. Boehner needs to go at all cost him and his cabal of GOP-E underlings.
SPEAKER GOWDY!
Don’t get me wrong, Louie is fantastic as well but as we have seen, Trey has this uncanny way of making his adversaries the bad guys with their won words. His direct and to the point way of ferreting out the truth from the bad guys instead of telling them how bad they are is exactly what is needed.
For Louie, he needs to be the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee because of his experience as a Judge.
I could live with having Gowdy also. I’m fine with it. But some in GOP leadership namely GOP-E has to go at least from controlling agenda of the party. Their damage is beyond excusable just like the DEMs.
A Conservative president maybe, but not a guarantee at all with Republican...
The thing for Cruz to pay attention to (which I haven’t heard him say yet clearly) is:
If you’re going to repeal Obamacare, you need to be for American production and American jobs.
Cruz, be strongly for American production, and American jobs.
GOP strongly support American jobs.
McConnell looks and acts like an old woman. Maybe he’s good at the ins and outs of day-to-day Senate politicking, but he’s no leader.
Does anyone know how he’s perceived in his home state?
Right. If it’s YOU, Ted! And it had better be! Bob
You seem to be confused.
The object is to support business that is the source of jobs. The pursuit of jobs is not the objective. First there must be business and then profits. If those conditions are met, jobs will follow
Republicans support business, large and small
AMERICAN jobs.
Just saying.
IMHO, what needs to happen is for the next President to hold Obama to his promise of running “the most transparent administration in history”, and unseal and make public every piece of information they’ve tried to hide. Then prosecute everyone that was complicit in his abuses.
Anybody with a single cell left in their brain knows it will never happen with those two.....especially Mr. Romneycare.
Based on what I’ve observed in the past 4 decades since I’ve started paying attention to politics, I think the country has to fall flat as a pancake before the majority of people, and the media, figure out that dim-0s are bad for the country and I fear that if we do not get the senate this time, and hold both houses and take the WH in 2016..........That time is very close.
And I'm going to hit the lottery tomorrow night.
We can all dream that Cruz is right. The big problem is getting that Republican president.
And a filibuster proof Republican Senate. And an alternative.
Will repeal it by executive order thanks to the precedence of this administration.
Just say AMERICAN jobs.
A Conservative president maybe, but not a guarantee at all with Republican... |
Exactly right. Romney/Ryan would not have repealed it.
For all the hoopla about the trouble he’s in IMHO he will win handily!!!
