Ever heard of the Founder Principle?
That said, ICR compared to Ken Hamm is like comparing Billy Graham to Benny Hinn.
Nope.
The sun (our local star) is not the only source of light.
As the universe cooled from what we now call the Big Bang, physics tells us that light condensed from that first energy. Then - ONLY after the light cooled, could matter become present. And, as soon as matter and light co-exist - anywhere in the universe, not just around our little isolated star, “shadows” are formed: one side of the atom, molecule, grain, particle, dust cloud, comet or planet is light, one is in darkness.
Why are you fighting simple nuclear physics? I’ve measured the difference in mass between nuclei and their component parts and measured and seen the energy that comes from matter converting into energy at the individual nucleus level. And, I’ve seen the accelerators that convert light back into matter. (Haven’t run those though. Yet.)
I guess I’m a heretic then and I know many Bible believing Christians who believe the same as me.
I have no idea of God’s perception of time...but I believe God created the world and all on it.
Whether that is 7x24 or 7x something...I don’t know. Nor do I really care.
At some point, I hope to find out...but it’s of little importance or significance to me...I have tougher battles to fight.
You know what? I’ve addressed many of these and other creationist anti science contentions many times. I and others have shown the ICR deals in sophistry, embellishing or inventing quotes, builds complicated straw men, never accurately represent science, and engages in out and out lies. Many here on FR have picked apart the creationist misrepresentations and lies. However it’s very much like arguing with my cat, she come back the next unchanged.
It is in the Book:
Genesis 7 New International Version (NIV)
7 The Lord then said to Noah, Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. 2 Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, 3 and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth. 4 Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.
5 And Noah did all that the Lord commanded him.
And, having made several trips to the Galapagos, I can vouch for the cleanliness of the fur seals, for Darwin’s Finches, not so much!
Bwahaha! Whatever you have to tell yourself oh pompous one. But I’ve heard some of the craziest stories & so called science from your side. But, your right it’s like trying to sell a Chevy to a Ford man. And turns into futile arguments, instead
Of a rational discussion. I remember the days when you could reason & discuss without the condescension & put downs. ;-)
Dogma is immune to reason.
Ad hominem, I’d forgotten that one.
actually that brings up an interesting mathematical conundrum for evolution. Given: current population is ~7 billion. Given Population in 1970s was about 6 billion. Given current birth and mortality rates are improved compared to 1800s and prior due to improved infant mortality and medical knowledge. Assumption: Equal population growth between generations based on growth between 1970s-2010s (or 14.3% in 30 years).
Assuming equal growth and conservative mortality/birth rates of today at what year would you arrive at initial human population of less than 100 persons? I come up with about BC 1500.
However, Let’s 1/2 the population increase rate to 15 years (14.3% increase every 15 years) - I come up with AD 225.
OK lets double the original number - now we’re increasing the population by 14.3% every 60 years. We arrive at 5000 BC.
double the time for the same population growth again to 14.3% every 120 years - now we’re at 11,850BC. That’s a .1% increase per year - not 1%, 0.1%. This would not be considered a sustainable replacement rate for a population that has worse medical and infant mortality than we. It’s arguable anything less than a 2% replacement rate is not sustainable. But assume .1% is ok.
Now these are obviously rough numbers I just tossed in an excel - but they can be refined and improved with prior population numbers and such...here’s the conundrum. Improve the mortality and we’re saying it’s better than the last 30-40 years (which increases growth rate). Increase the growth rate prior years and the 100/original population number is achieved at a more recent date.
I admit it doesn’t account for die-offs, but if you throw in the die offs later growth rate after the die offs need to be higher to account for todays current population but the current increase numbers don’t support that.
I’m just looking for people’s opinions - I don’t have the answer. I’m a physics major with an engineering background who believes in God. I study science to try to explain where I live and understand the creators plan. I don’t know how he did it - but it sure is amazing what we have.
“On earth, gas always fills its container. In space, there is no container. So gas expands indefinitely.”
Wrong. You fail basic physical science.
Of course we knew that before reading past the headline.
To what sort of theory of human origin do you subscribe that doesn't have an original breeding pair?
The birds flew and the seals swam?
No, it is how Hawkins envisions black holes has been questioned, not their existence.

Yes they do.. But those animals, how dare I say ‘evolved’ there and are only found there and no where else. So, Noah had to cross the Atlantic Ocean. He then had to go across Central America and travel some 1400 km across the Pacific Ocean to get to the Galapagos Islands. He then had to gather Darwin’s Finches(and the other 15 endemic species of birds) and of course the aforementioned Galapagos fur seals. Then reverse course and head back home..and yet, this is possible because he lived over 900 years!
Cranksville.
First, I think the human race has been around for more than 6 thousand years.
Secondly, I think that the young earth creationists cannot account for multiple races. If they can, I really want to see it spelled out.
