German Chancellor Angela Merkel declared that in Germany, multiculturalism has “utterly failed.” Both Australia’s ex-prime minister John Howard and Spain’s ex-prime minister Jose Maria Aznar reached the same conclusion about multiculturalism in their countries. British Prime Minister David Cameron has warned that multiculturalism is fostering extremist ideology and directly contributing to homegrown Islamic terrorism. UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage said the United Kingdom’s push for multiculturalism has not united Britons but pushed them apart. It has allowed for Islam to emerge despite Britain’s Judeo-Christian culture. Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair said the roots of violent Islamism are not “superficial but deep” and can be found “in the extremist minority that now, in every European city, preach hatred of the West and our way of life.”

The bottom line is that much of the Muslim world is at war with Western civilization. There’s no question that the West has the military might to thwart radical Islam’s agenda. The question up for grabs is whether we have the intelligence to recognize the attack and the will to defend ourselves from annihilation.

Multiculturalism is Islamists’ foot in the door. At the heart of multiculturalism is an attack on Western and Christian values. Much of that attack has its roots on college campuses among the intellectual elite who see their mission as indoctrinating our youth. In past columns, I’ve documented professorial hate-America teaching, such as a UCLA economics professor’s telling his class, “The United States of America, backed by facts, is the greediest and most selfish country in the world.” A history professor told her class: “Capitalism isn’t a lie on purpose. It’s just a lie.” She also said: “(Capitalists) are swine. … They’re bastard people.” Students sit through lectures listening to professorial rants about topics such as globalism and Western exploitation of the Middle East and Third World peoples.

Some public school boards have banned songs and music containing references to Santa Claus, Jesus or other religious Christmas symbols. The New York City school system permits displays of Jewish menorahs and the Muslim star and crescent, but not the Christian Nativity scene. One school district banned a teacher from using excerpts from historical documents in his classroom because they contained references to God and Christianity. The historical documents in question were the Declaration of Independence and “The Rights of the Colonists,” by Samuel Adams.

The U.S. is a nation of many races, ethnicities, religions and cultures. Since our inception, people from all over the world have immigrated here to become Americans. They have learned English and American history and celebrated American traditions and values. They have become Americans while also respecting and adapting some of the traditions of the countries they left behind. By contrast, many of today’s immigrants demand that classes be taught — and official documents be printed — in their native language. Other immigrants demand the use of Shariah, practices that permit honor killing and female genital mutilation.

Multiculturalists argue that different cultural values are morally equivalent. That’s nonsense. Western culture and values are superior. For those who’d accuse me of Eurocentrism, I’d ask: Is forcible female genital mutilation, as practiced in nearly 30 sub-Saharan African and Middle Eastern countries, a morally equivalent cultural value? Slavery is practiced in Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Chad and Sudan; is it morally equivalent? In most of the Middle East, there are numerous limits placed on women, such as prohibitions on driving, employment and education. Under Islamic law, in some countries, female adulterers face death by stoning, and thieves face the punishment of having their hand severed. In some countries, homosexuality is a crime punishable by death. Are these cultural values morally equivalent, superior or inferior to Western values?

Multiculturalism has not yet done the damage in the U.S. that it has in western European countries — such as England, France and Germany — but it’s on its way. By the way, one need not be a Westerner to hold Western values. Mainly, you just have to accept the supremacy of the individual above all else.

My question has always been, how could these supposedly intelligent countries take so long to figure this out? How smart are the leaders in these countries for them to allow this to occur in their homelands? I know they are mostly liberal and socialists, but even they must realize that if you bring a bunch of rattlesnakes into your home, that eventually you will get snake bit.

I still argue with intelligent people here in the US who try to excuse these extremist Islamic terrorists’ actions by saying that they are not reflective of most muslims. That the mainstream muslims are really peaceful and want to fit in and assimilate into foreign societies. My question back to them is twofold. First, if their religion/law is so great, why are they all emigrating to Europe and other western counties, if not to destroy them? And two, show me one, just one, moderate muslim. They can’t because there are none.

What Angela Merkel actually said - FOUR YEARS AGO - was:Der Ansatz für Multikulti ist gescheitert, absolut gescheitert!

In other words: "The approach we have been taking towards achieving the [highly desireable] multicultural society has failed, absolutely failed!" In other words: "We must try harder!"

It appears that Nathan Bedford's first Maxim of American politics applies equally to other nations. As one who lives in Germany I am frustrated and bemused by my neighbors brain lock over immigration, which they generally oppose, and their electoral impotence over the issue because of the European Union.

Just today I am asked by a neighbor to comment on the assertion in a publication that America has not abandoned its tendencies towards hegemony with the switch from Bush to Obama. One can answer this question by reference to American politics or what Obama is doing to eviscerate our Armed Forces or even his dithering with respect to Isis, China, Iraq, Iran etc. but these facts mean nothing to my neighbors. They will quote his failure to shut Guantánamo to me and, if that fails, they will say, in effect, "I told you so" about Iraq.

The real problem is the source of information available to my neighbors, it is as though all truth is filtered through the prism of The New York Times. There is no conservative voice in the sense that we know it. One result is that the American policeman is blackguarded while the Russian bear is excused.

The same piece touting the final book by "legendary" author, Peter Scholl-Latour, features the "fuck you, EU" quote by an American diplomat. The whole thrust is that EU = good; US = bad. This is the result of the information Gap.

Yet the same neighbor who decries deterioration of German culture and society because of the influx of Eastern Europeans mandated by the European Union, fails to make the obvious connection.

On the contrary, it has succeeded brilliantly, at its true objective. When one hears, "diversity is our strength" one has only to realize that said "our" is the communists who benefit and diversity is indeed to their advantage in destroying Christian democratic capitalism. They know that internal strife induces demand for concentrated power in the state to settle disputes and maintain order. The same can be said of every other divisive cultural goal, whether homosexuality or cheap heterosexual sex. Anything that divides the family or increases the reproduction of dysfunctional children empowers the state and therefore its wealthy sponsors at the expense of the middle class. Hence communism always was fascism, as Orwell had figured out as early as 1938:

Being another American living in Germany, I will make two observations:

1. Basically, the bulk of German society is getting its news via ARD’s 8PM fifteen minute newscast...which bundles facts into a 90-second chunk of information, or they get it via the daily Bild (where articles are typically 100 words or less). So Germans want to “brief” you with bullet statements and not indepth understanding. Beyond that, you could pick up the Frankfurt paper, Focus, Stern, or watch the 9:45PM extended news with more info but always developed to give you only one belief in the topic.

2. I live in an urban ‘zone’ and can note the various Middle-Eastern characters on a daily basis. I would say that ninety-percent of German society simply doesn’t see how these new characters can ever fit into German culture or society. But the same Germans say the same over the Russians that came, and the Africans as well....along with the Romanians and Bulgarians. The political parties are walking on ice, as they try to avoid discussing the topics because it only takes a spark to ignite public sentiment.

I will also note this....I watch the same public forums on TV, noting Peter Scholl-Latour’s past performances...and kinda laugh over the one-sided nature of German political chat forums. At some point last fall....I watched as they’d finally invited some former US ambassador who spoke German, was motivated to challenge the opposite side of four “experts”, and generally surprised the TV audience by introducing other facts to balance the perception of the public. Sometimes....by accident....they screw up and allow a full debate, and things gets interesting.
