The only moderate muslim is a totally lapsed muslim, certainly never a devout muslim....
Based on my own very thin experience, I would agree, although I think there are a lot of lapsed, or secularized, muslims. The thing is that they still accept strict shariah as an ideal, and see themselves as failures for their own nonadherence. Needless to say, in this frame of mind they are secretly, or not so secretly, cheering for the "radicals".
