Zeins also suggests keeping another item in your bedroom: "Buy a can of wasp hornet spray in the hardware store or the supermarket, keep it by your bedside or the floor," he said. "It's more powerful than police Mace.
"The great part is, when you spray, it will go 20 to 25 feet," Zeins added. An intruder hit with the spray will be temporarily blinded. Please check your state and local laws on the legality of using these sprays for self-defense.
Zeins has another tip: Sleep with all your bedroom doors open. You want your kids to hear what's going on; then you can get the family all in one place and leave together.
In a worst-case scenario if you are captured by an intruder, like Susan Dawson you should cooperate and tell them where the valuables are, Zeins advises.

#2-Dont sell drugs out of your home.
So how will you be able to point something you can’t see at a 4 mm wide pupil in both eyes of a moving target?
As a tactical light, the strobe function pumps out a blinding 2-speed strobe that will leave an assailant disoriented, temporarily visually impaired, and confused - probably long enough to hit them with a blast of pepper spray, a tazer, or to make an arrest or escape, depending on your situation. The scalloped stainless steel crown can also serve to break out a car window or to make persuasive contact with an assailant. Having one of these on your nightstand could be a key component of your home defense tactics if an intruder entered your home at night, especially when combined with Black Piexon JPX Jet Protector with Laser, Kimber Pepperblaster 2 Grey, One Size or your personal home-and-self defense weapon of choice.
The long-awaited Fenix TK75 is arguably the best flashlight made. Its use of 3 CREE U2 LED bulbs throws out an AMAZING 2600 lumens - enough to qualify as a handheld searchlight! Compare that much light to the 160 lumens of a massive 6 D-Cell Maglite flashlight, and you will begin to understand the revolution that the new LED lights have created. This hand-held light bazooka is the current leader of the industry and will light up your night!
The build quality is up to the standards that Fenix has become known for. I have the Fenix TK 22, 35, and 41 and just like all of them, the TK75 is solid, waterproof, sturdy, well balanced, and comfortable in your hand. It has four power settings, from a low setting at 18 lumens which will run for 200 hours, a powerful 400 lumens medium setting lasting 12 hours, a high setting at 1100 lumens for 4 hours, and the 2600 lumen turbo setting for just over an hour. Believe me, you won’t be running it on turbo power often - it is almost blindingly bright and shoots a beam over 650 yards! Great as a searchlight, boating light, camping or hunting light, etc.
********* I don’t own one but good choice if you have the money
Mine is a Leatherman and it is programmable but until I find the instructions I do not remember how to change it.
My mother-in-law sleeps with her gun right beside the bed when her husband is out of town. She told us, “Anybody who comes into this house better yell “Mom” or it’s not going to go well for them.”
No kidding. Mrs. Petit not only gave up all her valuables but drove the invaders to her bank and let them clean out her savings. And the cops were waiting right outside her home while she and her daughters were raped, strangled and burned alive.
Now one of her murderers is suing because, get this, he claims the police took too long to act.
I share your enthusiasm but...."double odd" "Street Sweeper" (Fully auto shotgun), etc.? There are some points in your post that are at odds with reason and logic. You are testing your credibility here.
Don’t be a frail old person who requires medications that bad guys want. Unless you’re well armed and a crack shot.
You’re most likely to get home invaded by SWAT that criminals.
While you’re spraying you been blow a rape whistle...double powers.
I read a report that said wasp spray was no more effective than spraying any canned chemical (except mace or pepper spray) and was completely ineffective in repelling an attacker. It’s an urban myth.
“So how will you be able to point something you cant see at a 4 mm wide pupil in both eyes of a moving target?”
That’s the nice part... You don’t need to point it. Five watt IR lasers are available on eBay for less than $100.
Turn it on in a room and everyone without eye protection is blind. Unless you close your eyes, just from the reflections off the walls, you will loose your sight. In seconds.
You don’t need to look at it...
I used to have an old Lab mix who I really liked. He was friendly and one time literally fought off a large American Bulldog.
He probably was not much of a guard dog tho. One day I got out of the house and took a small hike and he did not even know I was outside. On the way back I noticed him sleeping on the front door mat.
I walked up to him and he didn’t even wake up. I then poked him gently with my hiking pole. He just grunted and never woke up.
Some guard dog. Actually I suspect he would have sensed a stranger even in his sleep but still that did not give me a lot of confidence.
If you spray an invader with poison (bug spray), is that an illegal assault?
Sorry, Ziens, but your strategy won’t work, can’t work and should not be expected to work. Layered security is the only realistic solution to home invasion. Passive deterrents, supported by active barriers and finally, personal defensive tactics create a strategy that first discourages such crime (in order from out to inside-cameras, lights, landscaping, windows & doors and proper hinges/locks and alarms followed by active and lethal self defense tools/tactics and most importantly, mindset ( or a really comfy and expensive safe room) and training make up the compliment of necessary layers that do work, even in the worst areas.
As a security professional, I am amazed at how naïve many folks are-when it comes down to it, if a bad guy(s) make it inside, you better bet on the fact that they really don’t care about letting you or your family live- they already know they are on tape, the civil response clock is running and they have little time to deal with niceties or chivalry.... If you let them get inside, you’d better be able, willing and capable of dealing with them lethally. Most folks are not, especially those who think it won’t happen to them, or that they will be able to play along and live....
Who do you call to clean up the gore!!!
