He wants to draw the Troopers onto his territory to engage them on his terms. He's going to draw a couple of dogs and get his butt chewed.

In the vehicle, police found shell casings that matched those found at the shooting scene, Noonan said. Investigators also found Frein's Social Security card, a Pennsylvania Game Commission range permit, camouflage face paint, a black hooded sweatshirt, two empty rifle cases and military gear, Noonan said. Putting the tinfoil hat on, and realizing that most criminals aren't the smartest folks out there; but this seems like an awful lot of information to just find nice.
Sort of reminds of the movie Jack Reacher where the evidence found at a crime scene is a little too perfect.

What is a survivalist?Apparently someone who's dog does not get shot when the police show up.

Totally looks like...

He might be daring the police to come after him because he wants to take a few more with him before he is taken down.
To: Ray76
What a range permit. I’ve been to many ranges on SGL and never needed a permit.

"Sort of reminds of the movie Jack Reacher where the evidence found at a crime scene is a little too perfect." And which, ironically, was also set in PA (although in the other corner of the state).

"One flyover with a helo with thermal imaging and his goose is cooked." They brought an aweful lot of hardware to bear on Eric Rudolph and never found him 'til a rookie cop essentially stumbled over him while investigating a suspected burglary.

The casings are Aussie 7.62 surplus ball ammo. Headstamp year 88. They are berdan primed and non-reloadable.
Not real available now, but not rare.

I watched the press conference today. They also found internet postings where he had said he wanted to kill police. And family and friends said they weren’t surprised it was him behind the trooper assasination.
That would all be a little difficult for an unrelated killer to set up in advance to frame him.
Regarding the cops being careless or jumping the gun on this, if your brother was just murdered would you want to solve the case quickly and just get anybody convenient or would you be careful to make sure you really got the guy who killed him?

My point is that things are not always what they seem. My dad had a lot of people in prison who were convicted of things they never did. That is not to say they were not guilty of other things that should have put them in prison, but the zealous instagram on this one seems to have been cops, judge, jury, and sentencing all in two days.
The facts in an open court are important. Did the guy have accomplices? Did he act alone? Are their other acts which associates may be planning?
Slowing this thing down benefits everyone including the victims and possibly future victims.
