Those who actually follow the NFL know that 90% of the viewers of any Superbowl are not actually committed fans of either team and are not deeply invested in the outcome: they're just hoping for an exciting game.

Only homers and degenerate gamblers are emotionally affected by the outcome.

Plus, most people watch the Superbowl in a party atmosphere, either entertaining guests at their house or as guests at someone else's house.
