Germans were confronted with imagesoftheir country’s dark past on Monday night, when German public broadcaster ZDF showed video of Ukrainian soldiers with Nazi symbols on their helmets in its evening newscast. In a report on the fragile cease-fire in eastern Ukraine, Moscow correspondent Bernhard Lichte used pictures of a soldier wearing a combat helmet with the "SS runes" of Hitler’s infamous black-uniformed elite corps.

The Ukrainians and the Russians have been at odds for hundreds of years. Modern Ukrainian nationalists are considered to be “extreme right wing,” which apparently in Europe means that you are a devotee of Hitler. Remember, he started as a German nationalist, but then moved on to other things.
The odd thing is that they really aren’t right wing, in the sense of being economic conservatives. Almost of these nationalist movements - including Hitler’s - are collectivist and anti-commerce.

The Nazis were particularly stupid when it came to the Ukrainians, they were ripe for the picking... the Ukrainians hated the Soviets, but the Nazis considered them, the Jews, the Poles, excreta, to be less than human and treated them as such.

The Eastern front would have seen a much different ending had the Germans not treated the Ukrainians like they did other “subhumans”. Most of the Black Germans there would have more than likely joined the goosesteppers in a fight against the Russians.
Have been. That’s where I found the article. When I said I didn’t know who to believe, I meant all those sources on the web. Since there were many that were contradictory, I figured it’d be best not to pick a side.
