Kansas Democratic Senate candidate Chad Taylor’s effort to get his name taken off this fall’s ballot will be heard in the state’s supreme court, according to reports, the latest twist in a suddenly fast-changing race thought to be a shoo-in for Republicans.
Last week, Kansas secretary of state Kris Kobach ruled that Taylor will have to remain on the ballot since he did not demonstrate that he was incapable of serving if elected, a requirement under state statutes. Taylor went on to file a lawsuit against Kobach, claiming an election official helped him prepare the necessary documents to withdraw from the race; the official denies doing so.
Kobach argued that the lawsuit should be taken up in a lower court, but the supreme court decided the matter was too time-sensitive to go through the standard process, particularly as some ballots are set to be mailed before the end of the month, according to the Hill.
The make-up of the court may favor Taylor: Four of the bench’s seven judges were appointed by former Democratic governor Kathleen Sebelius.
Taylor’s sudden decision is considered by many to be part of a Democratic political strategy to unseat Republican incumbent Pat Roberts, and move a previously safe Senate seat into play. If Taylor voters move to support independent candidate Greg Orman, Roberts will face much stiffer competition, with a recent poll showing him trailing in a match-up against Orman.
I didn't think this was about naming a replacement. This was about dropping out so that he didn't split the Democrat vote against Roberts.
The likely outcome in any state is whatever benefits the Democrat candidate and harms the Republican candidate. That's why Democrats can argue in New Jersey to allow Torricelli to drop out and be replaced with Lautenberg, but allow Kansas to let Taylor drop out without being replaced; and allow the dead Carnahan to stay on the ballot in Missouri, and the dead Mink to stay on the ballot in Hawaii; and let Democrats cast illegal cross-over votes in Mississippi.
All in opposition to the law.

The statue requires that a replacement be named. Of course that completely ruins the Democrat plan, it depends on a blank line for the Democrat.
Who knows? I don't see a lot of Taylor's supporters going to Roberts. They'll either go to Orman or stay home.
I certainly hope so. Friends and I have been keeping track of the latest developments and they are like myself, angry the liberals would attempt to deceive the people of Kansas like they are doing.
One major obstacle in Kansas is the local medias are very liberal. Hopefully we're able to go around them with online communication and social media. The more the shady business dealings with Greg Orman's business gets out there, the harder it is going to be for him to win, IMO. Orman was up 10pts according to PPP if the race was head to head when the demoncrat dropped out. Now, the latest poll by a local news outlet has Orman up only by 1 point. Centurion316 explained earlier that poll was pretty much junk so it's really hard to tell where things are. Nate Silver gives Roberts a 54% chance of keeping his seat. If Roberts comes out and exposes this fraud Orman, it would help very much. There still is time.

What about the fact that the Milton Wolf voters see that Roberts is backed by the most conservative candidate around: Kris Kobach.
That Orman is being backed officially by the Democrats and Claire McCaskill who votes with Obama 98% of the time.
Jerry Moran should come out and say he wants to have a fair fight with the Tea Party in 2016 with no dirty tricks and he will only spend 4 million. “Leave Pat Roberts alone, Im the RINO you want”.
Roberts is a RINO.

Yup, that’s the discussion here too. It happens every time. They shop around, get a court they can win with, and every time they get what they want.

Pat Roberts has done a great deal of work in the trenches for the Conservative cause.
Pat Roberts has done fund raisers and given great advice to Conservative candidates in Kansas and around the country for many years.
Here we go-the Democrats will get the rule changed!
I suspect that Roberts will attract most of Wolf’s supporters, but some may just sit it out. Just like I expect Orman will attract most of Taylor’s supporters, but many just stay home.
Good thoughts, but keep in mind that the KSC may rise to their own indefense by snatching this case, and giving Kobach an opportunity to appeal any KSC decision to the Federal Courts or even certiorari to the Supremes.
If that happens, do-least-harm is the imprint of most 'I-want-off-the-ballot' decisions that reach the Supremes, reflecting a fairly constant thread before & after Bush v Gore (noting here that Bush v Gore itself is not citable): "Too Late, Tough S***".

But...but...but...statutes can only apply to Republicans.
In other words, the Democrat will be above the laws on the books AGAIN
