Yeah. Why don’t they help out Christians this way?
Turkey’s not gonna like that.
The Kurds have always been an effective and disciplined fighting force. They were invaluable during both battles for Fallujah.
They just need weapon systems and close air support, and they will defeat ISIL anytime, anywhere.
I’m glad we are arming the Kurds, for now. But the nature of the middle east is that, sooner or later, everything you do eventually bites you in the butt.
Somehow, someway, we will eventually be bitten by the Kurds. They can’t possibly be as saintly as we believe.
Still - for now, they’re the best ‘friend’ in Iraq/Syria - light years better than the ‘moderate rebels’.
The US is training the Peshmerga to be a professional army. The Kurds are going to want a lot of autonomy, like total autonomy when this is over. Lots of what they'd call Kurdistan is in Turkey. What's going to happen when the Pesmerga decide to free Turkish Kurds to join their new nation? Turkey's in NATO, so would there be obligations to defend them? Turkey's already being way too kind to ISIS fighters, so it's probably inevitable the fighting spills over into Turkey. Then the US will have obligations to both sides.
Obama's policy isn't to not fight wars. It's to pay others to fight the wars his globalist masters want. I guess the narcissist-in-chief thinks that the globalist wars are okay if someone else fights for him. It hasn't worked real well in Egypt, Libya, and Syria because those who fought the wars don't want to cede power when they've served their purpose.
Bottom line...this mess happened because Obama armed, trained, and financed others to fight his wars. And what he wants to do is more of that. It's insane.
Do we give a flying - whatever - WHAT Turkey thinks at this moment?
They have aligned with the Muslim Brotherhood, and are very much interested in re-establishing the Islamic Caliphate, as this fits right in with their world-view of the reincarnation of the Ottoman Empire.
Turkey is no longer a secular state.
And the Peshmerga would make a FINE mercenary army, as long as the support keeps on coming.
But just maybe, the Current Occupant now squatting in the White Hut, does not WANT to play this particular chess piece.
Could this be part of the "3 years" plan? I wonder.
That’s a real risk.
I hope that these guys do get an independent nation out of N. Iraq, but seriously don’t push it by screwing with Turkey.
They seem sane and realist, but it IS the middle east.
Christians in the region have been finding refuge in Kurdistan.
Exactly. Turkey stopped being an ally when the Kemalists were removed from power. They’ve thrown their lot with Islam, so why should we object to the Kurds finally gaining freedom for their homeland?
As long as the Kurds are defending the Christians, I’m OK with it. And so far the Kurds have been-— really-— magnificent.
So the mighty Pershmerga will be trained to:
Reduce global warming
Respect the environment
Enforce women’s rights
Support LGBT rights
We don't, but Jarrett, Obama and Brennan do. And I'm pretty sure they get their marching orders from Qatar, who are also very much on board with the restoration of the Caliphate.
Turkish foreign ministry just announced no US Air strikes will be permitted from any NATO airbase in Turkey. And remember that a lot of the mess that Iraq became resulted from Turkey’s refusal to allow 4 AD to launch from Turkey. So the only US forces in the north of Iraq were special forces and the reinforced battalion of the 173 Bde. Also The UK and Germany will not mount strikes on Syria. Barky really did his homework before making this speech.
You mean arm the Palestinian Christian Arabs in the PLO? No thanks.
At least we wont have to worry about turning their guns on our instructors for a change.
I can't see how Zero wouldn't jump at the opportunity to let the media suck us into a fight that ends up with the dissolution of NATO.
There’s plenty of Pro-western christians. Look at the Maronite militias like the Southern Lebanon Army and the Guardians of the Cedars.
