Senator John McCain (R-AZ) and newly minted CNN contributor and former Obama press secretary Jay Carney spar over the Iraq war and if the current situation in Iraq and Syria could have been avoided.
SEN. JOHN McCAIN: I think it was a very weak argument. And by the way, I'm astounded that Mr. Carney should say that the Free Syrian Army is now stronger. In fact, they have been --
JAY CARNEY: Well, that's not that I said, Senator. If I could, sir, what I said is, if we know a great deal more now about the makeup of the opposition. --
McCAIN: Come on, Jay, we knew all about them then. You just didn't choose to know. I was there in Syria. We we knew about them. Come on, you guys were the ones -- your boss was the one when the entire national security team wanted to arm and train them that he turned them down, Mr. Carney after --
CARNEY: Well, Senator --
McCAIN: The fact is --
CARNEY: I think we have to agree to disagree on this.
McCAIN: No, facts are stubborn things, Mr. Carney, and that is his entire national security team, including the Secretary of State said he want to arm and train and equip these people and he made the unilateral decision to turn them down. The fact he didn't a residual force in Iraq, overruled all of his military advisers, is the reason why we're facing ISIS today.
So the facts are stubborn things in history and people ought to know them. And now the president is saying basically that we are going to take certain actions, which I would favor, but to say that America is safer, and that the situation is very much like Yemen and

I look forward to more Republicans wailing on this smarmy liar Jay Carney. It will be funny to see him get turned into an all purpose punching bag
Am I dreaming or did his wife’s much-hyped book on working motherhood sell about as many copies as Hillary’s DOA doorstop?
.
“buffoonish poltroon”
Didn’t Juan pose for a photo—posted here several times—with three or four savages, one of them the ghoul who claimed to have taken a bite out of the beating heart of a gunshot enemy?
That would make McCain a “cannibal friend” as well.
Lover’s Spat!
CNN has desperately hired Carney because Earnest can’t do the job on his own.
McCain did not back down like.the DC press corps used to do. good for the Senator.
Jay Carney leaves the White House to already become a Democrat Party press hack.
Absolutely cogently on target analysis of the RINO McInsane.
He supported ISIS in Syria AND the arms deal gone bad, called Benghazi to ship them the Libyan leftover arms through Turkey. Calling General Petraeus who was dumped by obamaumao even as he still supported the nascent ISIS.
This is all kabuki and what is funny about this exchange is that both of these turds are professional opportunistic liars.
Only fact that is true is that Bush’s plan to leave behind 20K to make sure no other baathist sunnis came back (like ISIS is)— Bush’s plan was abandoned.
All these peeps eating out of the mil-industrial- media trough. Disgusting.
McCain is right. This whole ISIS debacle resides directly in Obama’s lap. This could have been prevented if Obama listened to his own team.
Do you think Obama will learn anything from this? Hell no.
I wonder if he chowed down with them.
McCain and Carney. Don’t know which to root for (or against). May they both lose.
