Senator John McCain (R-AZ) and newly minted CNN contributor and former Obama press secretary Jay Carney spar over the Iraq war and if the current situation in Iraq and Syria could have been avoided.
SEN. JOHN McCAIN: I think it was a very weak argument. And by the way, I'm astounded that Mr. Carney should say that the Free Syrian Army is now stronger. In fact, they have been --
JAY CARNEY: Well, that's not that I said, Senator. If I could, sir, what I said is, if we know a great deal more now about the makeup of the opposition. --
McCAIN: Come on, Jay, we knew all about them then. You just didn't choose to know. I was there in Syria. We we knew about them. Come on, you guys were the ones -- your boss was the one when the entire national security team wanted to arm and train them that he turned them down, Mr. Carney after --
CARNEY: Well, Senator --
McCAIN: The fact is --
CARNEY: I think we have to agree to disagree on this.
McCAIN: No, facts are stubborn things, Mr. Carney, and that is his entire national security team, including the Secretary of State said he want to arm and train and equip these people and he made the unilateral decision to turn them down. The fact he didn't a residual force in Iraq, overruled all of his military advisers, is the reason why we're facing ISIS today.
So the facts are stubborn things in history and people ought to know them. And now the president is saying basically that we are going to take certain actions, which I would favor, but to say that America is safer, and that the situation is very much like Yemen and

Carney just keeps saying “we’ll have to agree to disagree” over and over again during the conversation - either the facts outlined were true or they were false - it has nothing to do with “agreeing” or “disagreeing”. Absurd.
Ha Ha. He ended up at CNN. No surprise and a perfect job for a fool who has been paid to lie for his entire career. My only question: at what point does this poltroon face his foolishness? Never mind; they remain true as long as the money keeps coming in. True and everlasting whores.
mccain vs carney ... now I don’t care who you are but that is a funny.
Well. At least he didn’t say “blah, blah, blah” as my tard friend did tonight when I presented the same facts.
Credit when and where credit is due. Maverick tore Carney a new slot from which he can drop a deuce!
Just watched the video at the link...I guess this would be the first and only time McCain and Carney have been together to argue over something...as a testament to how irritable it is to listen to the Obamanites spin...listening to Carney is in fact actually worse than listening to McCain. McCain just lights right into Carney as soon as he is brought on.
Well, John, you only are about 6 years too late in finding your testicles.
He could have reverted back to the old “we won, you lost” argument as though that’s a full refutation of what the other person was saying like they used to.
McCain is such a poser. This guy plays as many sides of different games as Obama does.
McCain asked Obama to arm and financially support the insurgents in Syria. They did. Look what came of it.
Now he says it’s because Obama pulled our troops out of Iraq. Well, yes in part it was. Everyone and their mother knew that was a stupid move. Isis still wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t armed and funded.
Where did the arms and funding come from John? You out to know you jack ass.
Where did the arms and fund come from in Lebanon? Any ideas John?
Carney I expect to be the typical Carney Leftist. It just angers me intensely to see McCain act as if he is the Conservative voice of reason.
McCain could easier have been a running mate of Obama, than a valued objective critic now.
They share’d so many political pillows on subjects, it’s disgusting to see McCain claim now a condom was used so it didn’t matter.
Get that guy off, and keep him off television.
Credit? Honestly, I think McCain was lying his ass off on part of that. Don’t forget who was lobbying Obama to fund and arm the “rebels” (al Qaeda) in Syria.
McCain has no clue that part of that funding and arming went to the wrong people. He never figured that out in Lebanon either.
And on it goes, McCain the hero of the hour in his own mind.
Worry not.
when he goes home, he will take solace when looking at the Russian posters in his family room, knowing that he has once again worked to advance the wonderful cause of Communism.
I find him to be both a poltroon and a buffoon.
I shall go on a limb now and call him a poltroonish buffoon.
But I will accept buffoonish poltroon...
Game, set, match!
Jay Carney makes me cringe
McCain and Carney...both morons who will get us killed.
Cynical Carney clearly believed he could act as a professional liar for a spell and return to the DC commentariat as if nothing happened. But he signed a deal with the devil and Old Scratch is claiming his marker due.
I remember that.
