Crimea Turns to Polluted Water After Ukraine Cuts Supply

Crimean officials have proposed solving water shortages in Sevastopol by supplying the city with drinking water from a lake that lies near a municipal landfill and a reservoir that has been closed since the Soviet era because of contamination concerns, a news report said.

The plan to serve the city of 340,000 inhabitants on the Black Sea coast would "reanimate" the Orlovsky reservoir, whose water was deemed unsuitable for drinking in the 1980s, and tap into a lake in the nearby Inkerman region, local news site NovoCrimea.ru reported Tuesday, citing the director of Sevgorodvodokanal water utility, Nikolai Pereguda.

The lake is located just downstream of a local landfill, and the structure of the region's soil provides little deterrent to polluted runoff flowing into the lake, the report quoted an unidentified water expert as saying.

Crimea has been suffering water shortages since Russia annexed it this spring.

The peninsula has no land connection to Russia, and Ukraine refused to continue pumping water into the annexed territory at full volume, citing Crimea's unpaid water bills and reducing the stream to a mere trickle.

Water shortages have already damaged Crimea's harvest this year, officials have said.

Oh Russia will take care of it. I’m sure there’s water not being used up around Chernobyl.

Looks like that brilliant tactician and master planer Vlam Poopin forgot something. I’m sure someone will be by shortly to blame it on the “NAZIs” in the Ukraine.

Recent satellite images show that Kiev is deliberately trying to cut off Crimea peninsula's water supply by building a dam. In the meantime Russian scientists are trying to find ways to supply Crimea with fresh water.

Russia is willing to compensate farmers for some of their losses, as he stressed that Kiev refused to accept advance payments for Crimean water.

All the more reason to invade help out.

Seems fair to anyone but a Russian: the Ukrainians will freeze to death, and the Crimeans will die of thirst.

As an aside, as if the Russians need a "reason" to invade, lol . . . is that the latest spin from the Kremlin?

Even Israel didn’t cut off water or electricity to Palestinians in Gaza. Ukraine has balls to stand up to Russia!

Its about time Ukraine played hard ball.

Under Putin's direct order Russia has been and IS AT WAR WITH UKRAINE.

Russia has stolen Crimea and turned it into a giant Russian, gulag hell hole replete with kidnappings, rape, murder, terrorizing the non-Russian population, massive theft of businesses and choice private properties throughout Crimea via = Russians and Russian Mafia showing up with phony property deeds stating they "own" the property and they are being given those properties by the new "Russian judges", Russian "courts", Russian "legal" "(in)justice" departments. These "judgments" handed down giving these Russian usurpers the properties are being enforced by new "Russian policemen" i.e. Russian THUGS or "little green men" in police uniforms.

Crimea receives the overwhelming majority of all of its water and electricity from Ukraine. Since Russia is at war with Ukraine, has stolen Crimea and is presently occupying Crimea; Ukraine is under no obligation to continue supporting the theft and subjugation of its own people and territory.

Why should Ukraine be supplying water to a country that has invaded them and is occupying them? Also failing to follow the ceasefire.

More like it has balls to torture people of Crimea who are allegedly Ukrainians under Kiev policy.

Ethic cleansing in Crimea ensures only Russians will be thirsty, Ukrainians in Crimea dead or digging graves in Siberia. I figure 2 more months only Russian pigs left in Crimea. Such is the Russian way, they are very skilled at killing large numbers of people.
