Federal Complaint Says Hog Farms Are Racial Discrimination
National Review ^ | September 5, 2014 | Katherine Timpf

Environmentalist groups accuse hog farms of violating civil rights.

Environmental groups have filed a civil-rights complaint against hog farmers in North Carolina, claiming that by maintaining farms near neighborhoods where minorities live, the pork producers are engaged in illegal discrimination against minorities.

The 48-page complaint explains that the farms create problems for surrounding neighborhoods such as foul smells and runoff in the water.

The crux of the complaint, which was filed by Washington-based EarthJustice and three other environmental groups in the Tar Heel State, is not these problems themselves, however. The four environmental groups object to seeing these problems occur in neighborhoods where “people of color” are more likely to live.

The groups also cited issues such as not being able to hang laundry outside and the humiliation that comes from family members’ not wanting to visit.

Thank you for referencing that article Zakeet. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

Freedman issues aside, the only racial issue that the states have amended the Constitution to expressly protect, and therefore the only race-based right which the feds have the constitutional authority to protect, is race-related voting rights as evidenced by the 15th Amendment. So if politically-motivated environmental groups want the feds also to also have the constitutional authority to protect other specific race-related rights, here is what the misguided environmental groups must do.

Environmental groups must work with federal and state lawmakers to propose an appropriate new race-protection amendment to the Constitution. And if the states then choose to ratify the amendment then the feds will have the power to protect such rights and the environmental groups will be heroes.

I bet the fog farms were there long before the hood got there. Just like people complaining about the noise of living near an airport even though the airport had been there for years before they moved to the area.

I think that’s usually what happens.

That was my question too. Is this another case of people moving to rural areas, then complaining they’re in a rural area?

Gee, what about all of the hog farms in rural Indiana, where there are very few minorities? I guess they are racist because not many minorities have farms in rural Indiana.

Its the same argument we deal with when it comes to military base jet noise.

The bases were located in the late 1940's well outside of city limits. Then the developers put in strip malls and housing developments.

Then the people that moved in complained about the noise and wanted the bases to move.

You can bet your bottom dollar if the hog farms were minority owned, not one damn word would be uttered. EPA is second only to DOJ in being racist AND Marxist.

Add the US Department of Education. Its main purpose is employing minorities and women...affirmative action Federal drones.
Plus the nastiest most racist part of the DOJ is its black racist, anti-white "Civil Rights Division"

Come to my part of Illinois. Some of the richest white people live on and operate hog farms.

Probably because the residents worked on the farms... before they went on 99+ weeks of unemployment, then got enrolled in the SNAP and WIC programs.

I had a recently moved-in neighbor come to my parents' door with a petition to sign trying to establish a "quiet zone" on the Norfolk Southern Lehigh Line. Where we lived was on a grade and the tracks entered a mile long tunnel, so we were used to the sound of five 4400HP locomotives in Run-8 hammering up the hill and blowing the horn for the tunnel.

I went off on the guy, stating that when his kid gets hit on his ATV in the tunnel, he will be the first to lawyer up and sue the railroad because the railroad didn't follow their own operating rules and blow 2 longs a short and a long. Just then a train came past... "That", I said as the train blew its horn, "Is what Insterstate Commerce sounds like". Another young couple that moved to the neighborhood told my mom that the real estate agent told them the train only came by once a day in the afternoon. Hahahahahahaha! This is one of the main frieght routes across New Jersey into the NYC area.

Grew up on the Mississippi in Illinois. One could not drive 10 miles in any direction without passing a hog farm.

I understand, but I loves me some pig...

Maybe the hog farmers should try for 13% black hogs, 26% white/black Hispanic hogs, 9% asian/Vietnameese pod belly hogs, 40% cauc hogs, and the rest Muslim hogs. Got all the bases covered.
