Sowell: Success or Failure? (Obama)
Creators Syndicate ^ | September 9, 2014 | Thomas Sowell

Posted on 09/08/2014 12:05:36 PM PDT by jazusamo

Those people who say that President Obama has no clear vision and no clear strategy for dealing with the ISIS terrorists in the Middle East may be mistaken. It seems to me that he has a very clear and very consistent strategy. And a vision behind that strategy.

First the strategy — which is to get each crisis off the front pages and off television news programs as quickly as he can, in whatever way he can, at the lowest political cost. Calling ISIS a junior varsity months ago accomplished that goal.

Saying before the 2012 elections that "bin Laden is dead" and that terrorism was defeated accomplished the goal of getting reelected.

Ineffective sanctions against Iran and Russia likewise serve a clear purpose. They serve to give the illusion that Obama is doing something that will stop Iran from getting nuclear bombs and stop Russia from invading Ukraine.

This forestalls the massive and enraged outcries there would be if the public were fully aware that he was doing nothing serious enough to prevent either of these things from happening. Generations of Americans yet unborn may curse us all for leaving them hostage to a nuclear terrorist Iran. But generations yet unborn do not vote, so they carry no weight with Barack Obama.

No one has a perfect batting average in any field, so Obama has been caught in some dicey situations, such as the sudden eruption of ISIS on the world stage, with their videotaped beheadings that make it hard to get them off the front pages and off the TV newscasts.

“Everything in Barack Obama’s history suggests that he is going to leave the job half done, so long as that gets the issue off the front pages and off the TV newscasts.”

The last sentence of the article sums it up.

Yes it does. 0bama only wanted the job in the first place for the prestige and being able to say look at me, the first black president. He didn’t want to work at the job nor was he qualified.

As I said last Thursday:

This administration will only apply itself to problems that benefit the President’s political party.

If - at any time - there are no problems of that nature, this administration will manufacture one.

Problems that cannot be made to function to the benefit of the President’s political party will be left to a future administration.

Any criticism of this doctrine is an expression of racism.

"We are currently at a point where we can either kill as many of the ISIS terrorists as possible over there — where they are bunched together and visible against a desert background — or else leave the job half done and have them come over here, where they will be hard to find, and can start beheading Americans in America.

He is dulling our brains (or trying to) with the continual lies and tranquilizing statements.

Sowell is right on the mark this time. But I would say what he calls Obama’s strategy is really a tactic only. The strategy is to neutralize America to further the goal of world communism.

I despise this president, yet I am at a loss to see how ISIS is a threat to me or my family! They have no ships, no planes, 10-12 thousand fighters, stolen american weapons, a desert and enemies on every side, and of course a wad of money stolen from someones bank! Any american passport holder fighting for ISIS could be deemed a traitor today by this moron of a president and revoke their passports, and have them arrested if they showed up at the border, have them imprisoned and shot by firing squad. We are currently producing more energy than we are using so the middle east is impotent if we choose it to be. I say we let them take Saudi Arabia, and all the emirates, i.e. the ones who initially funded them in Syria, them we stomp them to death along with their perverted religion!

You may have missed the news where about a dozen passenger airplanes have gone missing from an airport in the middle east.

You also must have missed the news about how this administration will NOT revoke the passports of any "Americans" who run off to fight and behead for ISIS. They'll just come home, and settle in among their former neighbors like nothing ever happened (maybe in your neighborhood).

They do have planes (from Libya). They have tons of money. They have oil wells, and oil shipments out of Iraq, for which they are collecting more money.

They have open borders on our south and north, and can come into the USA as they wish.

Yeah, just because the ragheads tried to bring down the World Trade towers in 1993 did not mean they would ever try to do it again. Until they did.

Just because ISIS promised to hit the USA, it doesn't mean they will. Until they do.

Just because ISIS claims to already have several thousand suicide jihadists already inside the USA doesn't mean they really do. Until they actually blow up something.

They’re stronger and better organized than Al Queda ever was. They have the ability to carry out massive terror attacks. It would be a strategic mistake for sure but they’re fanatics so thats not always a concern for them.

I’m old and I’m weary and this administration and the abysmal state of the world is most discouraging.

I was just flipping through a local paper today and saw that a Boston area terrorist who is on the FBI’s Most Wanted list went to the private Catholic boys school that one of my grandsons attends.

There was an old saying, “There’s no place to hide.”. It appears that, more and more, there isn’t.

I don’t believe they will attack with terrorism inside of the USA. They are trying to build a state cut out of three countries. It’s would be a mistake to attack america directly. The people that were supporting them are probably on their hit list. Saudi princes, having their head removed is not my problem. We are broke!!!!!! How much blood must america spill for “the white mans burden”. Haven’t you had enough of this endless war on our children’s credit card. I say close the border, rebuild our economy, rebuild our country from it’s death spiral and be strong enough to deal with these butchers when they become our problem!

Do they have any pilots that are willing to fly 9000 miles to america and kill Americans. If Egypt is worried about the missing planes in Syria, then they should invade, find them and destroy them. Isn’t it about time for Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia to fight their own wars. Is that all we are now, the Hessian warriors for the oil covered rag heads, who always stick the american taxpayer the bill for their wars. George Washington was correct, “avoid foreign entanglements”. The real problem here is the media has sensationalized propaganda of the enemy to for force a weak, pathetic president into action against his will, to wage war with half measures, on behalf of people who don’t care and won’t appreciate it. No more American Blood and Treasure for these ingrates!
