Apparently Levenson doesn't want to go through what Donald Sterling went through. Time to sell his ownership stake and get out....

Any millionaire black sports and entertainment people given up their positions due to racist remarks they make? Of course not.

They have Black Privilege.

“My theory is that the black crowd scared away the whites and there are simply not enough affluent black fans to build a significant season ticket base,” Levenson said in the email released Sunday by the Hawks.

“Please don’t get me wrong. There was nothing threatening going on in the arena back then. I never felt uncomfortable, but I think southern whites simply were not comfortable being in an arena or at a bar where they were in the minority.”

Levenson said Hawks crowds are 70-percent black, the team’s cheerleaders are black and hip-hop music was played.

“Then I start looking around at other arenas,” Levenson said. “It is completely different.”

Levenson said he often heard fans say the area around Philips Arena in downtown Atlanta is dangerous.

“This was just racist garbage,” Levenson said. “When I hear some people saying the arena is in the wrong place I think it is code for there are too many blacks at the games.”

Though he said he disagreed with the conclusion, he said he told team executives to add white cheerleaders and music “familiar to a 40-year-old white guy.”

Added Levenson in the email: “I have even bitched that the kiss cam is too black.” ,p>Though the NBA investigation of the email was ongoing, Levenson apparently concluded he couldn’t continue in his ownership role.

“If you’re angry about what I wrote, you should be,” Levenson said in Sunday’s statement. “I’m angry at myself, too. It was inflammatory nonsense. We all may have subtle biases and preconceptions when it comes to race, but my role as a leader is to challenge them, not to validate or accommodate those who might hold them.”

Black fans are also racist and scare white fans off the NBA team discussion forums.

Baraq Hussein Ubama didn’t have to step down when he engaged in a partisan witchhunt on the TEA party using the IRS and calling patriotic men, women, and children “teabaggers” (e.g. ‘faggots’).

If he’d had a harddrive crash no one would ever have known. Not even the recipient. I know this because that’s the lie that’s been sold by the IRS.

I guess I’m racist, because I don’t see anything particularly bad there. Some valid points and valid questions.

I read his entire email, and I did not think it racist: it was a statement of fact and could be viewed, IMHO, as an effort on behalf of Levenson to initiate a conversation within the Atlanta Hawk management team of “how to improve fan turnout at home games.”

HST, in contemporary America, anytime a white person tries to point out a situation relative to black persons, you can bet that one of the many race pimps (both black and white!) lurking out there in the “popular culture smog” will scream “RACISM,” and initiate a smear campaign against said white person.

I don’t fault Levenson at all, and, in a just world, his email would be taken to heart by the Atlanta Hawks management and used as a starting point for a continuous improvement program.

His lawyers are probably advising him to take the money and run.

This guy is a dikk.

I wouldn’t put it past him to “out” himself to force a sale of the team and make more money. Too bad he won’t get his pro-rata share of $2 billion for his crap of a franchise.

This article is misleading. I read that this guy reported himself and, in essence, fired himself.

Apparently the definition of "racist" has been expanded to included any mention of the topic of race in any context by someone who is white.

This is likely being carefully orchestrated. Levenson is shrewd. He saw the big payout that Sterling received after all of the controversy and decided to try to get a piece of the grievance-industry action while unloading his stake in the team.

I am not sure that lightning will strike twice here as the shock value is gone and there simply aren't that many people with $1b or $2b sitting around looking to scoop up NBA teams, particularly in a market like Atlanta.

This Kool Kat needs a better mistress. It is too obvious what is going on here after the sale of the Clippers (2 bil.)

Sounds to me like he was looking for an easy way to sell the team and get out.
