Upland>> Three boats worth $1 dollars are missing
(Excerpt) Read more at dailybulletin.com ...
good point
You stole my saying...
Did he see the news reports?
A $1 boat?
Seriously, I don’t know how you can ‘steal’ a $1mm yacht. What, people won’t see it?
No need for registration here as long as its under 12 feet and doesn’t leave the lake.
Not really that difficult to ship boats out of the country. When I lived in CT, a dealer had a 32 foot cruiser stolen and ended up in Greece. The boat was put into a container along with a few other stolen items (pool table, an RV and a Ferrari).
Now, spread a group of Jihadists among 3 extremely fast boats and.. VOILA!!
POOF !

I did not go to the source article, but is it not possible that these boats were not in long-term storage and are just stored whenever not being used. Perhaps the owner uses it every other weekend.

Someone is planning on sinking a lot of guns.
Or, could they be planning to use it to attack General Atomics in Torrey Pines ..?? I’ve been wondering this type of attack every since I heard they had named General Atomics. It sits upon a high cliff right at the ocean. You might be able to use a SAM or similar weapon to cause a lot of damage to the structures.
However, just east of there is Miramar (Marine Air Station) .. FA-18’s - and they could sink any boat who might be off-shore shooting at us.
A company in Torrey Pines has been named as a target of ISIS. You can reach their building on one side - by the ocean.
I presume the Coast Guard will be hot after this one.
Why buy it when you can steal it ..??
All of those people were arrested.
I looked but couldn’t determine what kind of faciltity this is. The term “storage” usually implies renting space for something for a period of time. People who do not have wet slips typically try to keep their boats in or near a marina, or perhaps at home if they have space. Boats sometimes sit for long periods of inactivity due to owner issues such as health problems, financial problems, business travel, divorse situations, etc.
But yes, it is possible that maybe this facility was used for parking a boat in between outings. It would be a challenge to steal and store one boat much less three so this is an interesting case. Stealing a boat with an unknown maintenance history is risky in itself! ;)
I understand that. However, these illegals could've been a 'dry run' for the REAL terrorist attack involving an ISIS team. If Mexicans can do it, so can ISIS. I sure hope the apprehended ones are THOROUGHLY questioned.
The stolen boats are super fast. Ideal for an invasion or small ordinance aimed at a cruise ship or port target. Or.. 5 dudes with AK-47's per boat and they could do a LOT of killing.
Good points.
It is not uncommon in this part of the country for people to put up high performance boats between outings, so that is what I was thinking.
Since these boats are apparently high end, I would not be surprised to learn that they are being smuggled onto ships to be sold overseas. I recall seeing a piece on TV once about this sometimes being the fate of stolen expensive cars.
I hope that it is just theft and not part of a terrorist plan.
