Democratic nominee Chad Taylor drops out of Kansas Senate race

Democratic nominee Chad Taylor dropped out of the race for U.S. Senate in Kansas on Wednesday, an 11th hour move that could clear the way for his party to rally behind and independent candidate and potentially change the math in the battle for the Senate majority.

Taylor, who raised little money and had not gained traction in the campaign, submitted a letter to the Kansas secretary of state's office that said he was withdrawing from the contest, without providing any further information. An e-mail to his spokesman seeking more information on why he bowed out was not immediately returned.

The move, which came on the last day for ballot changes, could clear the way for Democrats to rally behind Greg Orman, an independent candidate who has left the door open to caucusing with both parties if elected. Orman, who used to be a Democrat and a Republican, has been viewed as a more viable opponent against Sen. Pat Roberts (R), who polls show is vulnerable. Orman has raised a lot more money than Taylor.

RINOs are liberals. That's why they are called RINOs. When RINOS win, liberals win.

You destroyed America by allowing your party to be taken over by liberals. All the republican leadership in the legislature is liberal.

If you vote for a liberal republican, you ARE a liberal.

Your non-vote for a "leftist Republican" equates to not cancelling out someone else's vote for an even more leftist Independent or Democrat. I'd think if given those two choices, it would be more prudent to not support the Independent/Democrat in any way, even by not voting. That's JMHO, of course, but consider SCOTUS appointments, for example, which have to be confirmed by the Senate, and have lifetime appointments. Inactions have consequences too, I think.

I'd also beg to quibble...I said nothing about Republicans in general in my previous post, did I?! I meant to just reference the current choices available to conservative voters in the Kansas Senate race, and apologies if that was not clear!

Are you saying that I MUST vote for your liberal republican to save America? Is that what you are trying to sell?

And just what is the history of the senate on SCOTUS appointments, when the liberal republican party was in charge?

Yeah... pretty damn poor.

There are no RINOs, there are only liberal republicans.

Are you telling me that I must vote for the liberal (R) to save America?

Because Mitt Romney supported abortion, in fact, and deed.

I despise all baby killers. Especially republican pro-aborts.

So a liberal running as a Republican (RINO) is better to vote for than a liberal running as a democrat? Either way you’re voting for a liberal regardless of party affiliation. How is that championing the conservative cause and putting the government back in check where it needs to be and beginning the process of restoring this country back to where it needs to be?

If people, such as yourself, had been voting based on conservative principles rather than party affiliation all along, would this country even be in the mess it is now? I think not.

A suggestion. You’ve been here essentially since the beginning. Some people you
aren’t going to persuade no matter what approach you use in trying to do so. Don’t
get so riled. Just go on to another person that you may can persuade to your line
of thinking. State your case for your convictions and move on. Avoid even posting or
commenting to those you can’t or won’t be able to change. Remember we all have a right
to our beliefs no matter how absurbed that may sound to someone else.

Take care.

Mitt was the one that pushed for acceptance of homosexuals, and as I recall, appointed a queer judge. He is a registered republican. Just like you.

I am not a registered Democrat.

I am a conservative. Not a liberal.

I don't vote for liberals. Especially liberal republicans.

Amen.......

The sanctimonious selfrighteous place a higher value on their own self esteem derived entirely from pompous declarations of dubious principle than on the good of America.

Put down the caps lock and take a deep breath. I'll try to help you out.

"Conservative" is a philosophy of government, as is "Statist". "Democrat" is a Political Party, as is "Republican". Screaming with all caps "DEMOCRATS ARE FOR KILLING INNOCENT BABIES and GAY EVERYTHING and AMERICA DESTROYED!!!!" is both inaccurate and painting with a rather broad brush. There are Republicans who support the same thing. Yes, I'm afraid it's true.

You can have a "Conservative" Republican, and although they are rare, you can actually have a "Conservative" Democrat. Yes, I'm afraid it's true.

The vast majority of Democrats nowadays are Statists. Too high a number of Republicans in Washington are Statists, and they wield the reigns of power in the Party, although their influence is slowly waning. They infest Free Republic with posts trying to goad people into supporting their Statist candidates, when in fact what Conservatives of all stripes should be doing is firing all Statists.

Conservatives are in for the long haul, not short-term gains. Our efforts will probably take several election cycles. Trying to frighten us by saying things like "there won't be an America if we don't hold our noses and vote for...[fill in the Statist Republican Candidate]" won't work with us. Sorry, no sale - but hey, you go ahead and do it (we're for personal responsibility, so it's your choice - just don't tell us what to do; only Statists are into groupthink).

Now, before reaching once more for the Caps lock key, try to think through what I just typed.

Can't tell you right off hand, just saying I'm thinking you'd have better odds for getting a conservative justice confirmed with more "liberal republicans" and less "conservative democrats" in the Senate...

What's the SCOTUS history of the Senate with the democrats of any/all stripes in charge? Guessing even MORE darned poor!

If you have two candidates, one of which you know is going to be your next Senator, and then you have two more candidates who are really the best (whichever party you might prefer) but can't possibly win the election...then what are you going to do with your vote?

Not saying this is a good situation, but it's the one we've got right now. And statewide elections are the worst of all possible worlds.

We conservatives preach our values. They are based on hundreds of years of very knowledgeable writers, as well as the founding fathers. If they fall on deaf ears, no problem. It won't stop us.

Easy. I will never vote for a pro-abortion, anti-gun, pro-amnesty, socialized medicine, big government liberal. Any politician that supports or enables those positions is a liberal.

As when McConnell provided critical cloture votes to allow Reid to move Obamacare funding forward, and when McConnell provided critical cloture votes to allow Reid to move Amnesty forward, and when McConnell provided cloture votes to allow the removal of the debt limit. McConnell is the leader of senate republicans.

A liberal like that.

John Cornyn falls in the same category. I won't vote for any liberal, ever.

I will vote for a conservative.

You don't get more conservative governance by voting for liberals. Ever.

/johnny
