After several mercifully Benghazi-free months, the 2012 attack on the diplomatic compound in Libya is about to be thrust back into the spotlight around its September 11 anniversary.
The special House committee investigating Benghazi is finally expected to begin its work, in earnest, with its first hearing the week Congress returns from August recess. Meanwhile, two books promising explosive new allegations about the terror attack will hit shelves in September, and Fox News plans to air a new, one-hour documentary on the attack this week, featuring exclusive interviews with Americans who fought in the onslaught.
Add that to the usual fare that accompanies the anniversary of any major news event and you get a headache for the teams surrounding Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. For both, its a stubborn political problem that will likely never go away, no matter how many investigations clear the senior players of the worst allegations of wrongdoing. And its little doubt why: Polls suggest that Clinton is vulnerable on Benghazi ahead of a potential 2016 presidential run, with members of both parties listing it as her biggest weakness.
Partisans on both sides are gearing up for the return of Benghazi. Tim MIller, for example, who is the executive director of the GOP super PAC America Rising, told msnbc his team is prepared to jump on anything that comes up in these books/hearings that call into question Sec. Clintons claims. And Clinton defenders at Democratic groups like Correct the Record and American Bridge say they will be ready to respond to any incoming fire, and are already passing along research to undermine the books.

I’ll have grown a beard and it’ll be 20 years later before anything substantive comes of this...
They evidently stormed the US embassy. Has that managed to get anyone’s attention?
If it strikes me that the timing seems awfully politically convenient, I’m pretty sure it will strike democrats the same way. Consequently, I doubt anyone is going to pay much attention.
I’m just hoping the GOP doesn’t come off looking like they are platyiung political dirty tricks and up costing us elections.
But will it make a difference?
And, I hope, in November too!
The terrorist pool party garnered more attention than the actual taking of the Embassy.
I don’t watch the TV news anymore. But I noticed that they had seized the US embassy in Tripoli, and I don’t get the impression its being treated as any big deal.
Israel seizing 1000 acres, on the other hand, now that got our attention.
That “Embassy” was an unflagged safehouse and the location was supposed to be classified.
Aren’t they they the swift boat guys?
Who attacked Libya to get Qadaffi’s gold?
Only Hillary and Obama could be that bold.
No, different story. They seized... er, no, they are “guarding”, the embassy in Tripoli.

“...no matter how many investigations clear the senior players of the worst allegations of wrongdoing.”
Which investigations have done this? To the best of my knowledge there hasn’t yet been a complete investigation because the White House and State have been stonewalling.
No bias here...
Come on, Obama has been planning this all year.
At this point???
Embassy personnel have been evacuated to Malta, but State says the embassy “remains secure” in the hands of an Islamist militia who supposedly chased out another Islamist militia who had seized the embassy.
This may be the book the general on FOX was talking about in his stern warning.
It’ll be dead by November 2015....
Then the enemedia will start cycling Hillary. Then they’ll wax poetically about a new version of Cram-a-lot and how wonderful and interesting it will be to have the 1st black president back in the White House
Gotta replenish the vaults in Manhattan.
Acreage which, correct me if I am wrong, is theirs already. Having been won in wars Israel did not start.
