Dont bet that the American gun rally is over just yet. This week gun manufacturer Smith & Wesson sharply lowered the sales outlook that it laid out just two months ago. Smith & Wesson and its listed peer Sturm, Ruger are down 15 and 30 per cent respectively since January. The simplistic explanation is that purchases of guns after the 2012 Sandy Hook school massacre have abated as it became clear that tightened gun control would not be forthcoming. But that is only part of the reason for the pullback in the share prices. The rest can be explained by the vagaries of the firearm supply chain.

Blazer aluminum cases have never been considered reloadable, don’t see why others would be any different due to aluminum work hardening.
My 4” 686+ has over 20,000 rds and is still flawless.
The others in .22LR to 500 S&W are enjoyed less vigorously.
I prefer revolvers and reloading my ammo. Chasing brass
is not a favorite task, so semi-autos get less use.
Yeah, I have been finding powder locally for a while now too. Not finding everything I want exactly but finding plenty that will work just fine and some of what I want exactly.
we took our 500 magnums out last month. Man, I had forgotten how brutal that round was. after 3-4 cylinders of hot 350 grain JHPs, I couldn’t hold my hands steady anymore. I prefer revolvers for target shooting, especially .357 magnum but anymore I’m focused on self defense so I load for and practice with a Glock 21C. Plus I have plenty of power pistol and bullseye and no 2400. Gonna start loading for 10 mm soon and then I’ll consider carrying my Glock 29 instead of my 21C. I’m pretty fond of .45 acp but there’s just no denying the 10 mm’s potency.
What are you looking at getting first? I’m looking at sure fire suppressors for 5.56 and 7.62. Not sure about .45/10 mm yet.
I have two with the parallel batteries as AA batteries are cheap and plentiful. If the SHTF, don’t want to be searching for CR.123A’s.
At least that was my logic.when I bought them. That and the 552 has the only 308 specific reticle.
I shoot with guys who speak of the quality (or lack of it) they remember in the 1970’s Colts. Apparently Colt didn’t learn anything from that. Never had a Colt and probably never will.
308? Now I am interested.....I had assumed that was 223.
Admittedly they had a great rebate recently when they were sold out. 60-75 rebate....on top of MIDWAY USA coupons. Could not pass that up and bought the optic and the magnifier. I always wanted their magnifier but could never justify the cost.
But there are still companies in Russia producing steel cased ammo which can be found here. Herter’s for one.
They are running out the inventory and backlog. After those are gone, it’s done - no more steel cases from Russia. Herters’ steel cases are imported from Russia, as is Hornady’s Steel Match.
I have an SBR barrel coming for a 45 carbine. I am also considering the 45 cal handgun conversions such as KPOS, Roni Hera, etc., Given the low cost handgun ammo. I have looked at suppressors, but that is down the list yet.
Yes, I bought the HHS I setups for my 308s; yes, I know, not spec’d, but many users have said they work fine on their AR-10s. If they work with the over-pressured 556 NATO, they may be fine with the AR-10s. I could always swap them with the Mepros.
