Kicking off the annual Labor Day Friday News Dump, Chelsea Clinton has announced, via People, that she will no longer pretend to be a reporter. The once (and future?) First Daughter has been a special correspondent for NBC News since 2011, when she was dubbed, following her debut, one of the most boring people of her era. For the occasional feel-good segment or interview with the CGI Geico gecko, Clinton earned a reported annual salary of $600,000, or approximately $26,724 for every minute she was on-air.

I emailed NBC and offered to do the job for a bargain rate of $400,000/year. They haven’t responded yet.

I am amazed at how much money NBC frivolously wastes They weren't buying a reporter, they were buying future favors from the Clinton machine.

Why can't I find a cushy job like this?

I agree. Under crony capitalism, bribes have a pretty good return on investment.

Don’t laugh too hard. She has virtually an identical resume as Hillary Clinton had in 1999.

She probably found a higher paying “Unbelievably Cushy Fake Job.” Although I don’t understand why she couldn’t keep both, or even a dozen such “jobs.”

You need a close relative with the authority to “redistribute” wealth.

It’s Manhattan. Nixon was turned down by a Co-op board. They spit on foundations in that price range. Not saying it’s impossible, just unlikely.

I don’t envy her. Daughter of an impeached president and a woman who is shamelessly sociopathic. College admission based upon her parents’ status. Daughter-in-law of a convicted felon and pardoned crook. Room temperature IQ and college grades. Married off in the way 19th century Europeans were. No visible talents or achievements. Of very modest looks. Knows she is unremarkable amid being told how wonderful she is — major cognitive dissonance crossed with a sense of great entitlement. A lot like the Kennedy kids and grandkids. I predict she will go the same way of alcoholism and self-destruction.

Yes, but her salary was really good. Chelsea did well for herself being that she was from an family that was flat broke.

I didn't think it was possible, but she's the only person on the planet to benefit more from coat-tails.
Mama brought her up to follow in her own footsteps, and the child surpassed her wildest dreams.
