The Federal Emergency Management Agency on Thursday denied Hawaiis request for a major disaster declaration after Tropical Storm Iselle.
Iselle made landfall over the Big Islands isolated and rural Puna region nearly three weeks ago, knocking down trees and power lines.
FEMA denied the request because it has been determined that the damage from this event was not of such severity and magnitude to go beyond the capabilities of the state, affected local governments and voluntary agencies, the agency wrote to the state Thursday.

and Obama was born where again ?
I can’t wait to hear all the Obama loving hippies in lower Puna start grumbling on him over this one . I love it when they eat their own . It’s about time .
ps: lots of retired combat vets live down there too . All very much affected by this event .

yup.
announce interest in possibly looking into the birth certificate and 0bama will do anything to keep it from coming out
Absolutely proper response from FEMA.
Federal disaster aid should only be dispensed when the damage is greater than a state can readily handle or if the damage extends to several states and the agency can serve to facilitate response among many different agencies and jurisdictions.
This could be an “FU Hawaii, for rejecting Abercrombie”.
