A Justice Department official admitted that former IRS official Lois Lerners apparently missing emails actually exist on a backup server, but the government doesnt plan to retrieve them.
A Department of Justice attorney told a Judicial Watch attorney on Friday that it turns out the federal government backs up all computer records in case something terrible happens in Washington and theres a catastrophe, so the government can continue operating, Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton told Fox News Shannon Bream.
But it would be too hard to go get lois lerners emails from that backup system, Fitton continued, paraphrasing the DOJ official. So, everything weve been hearing about scratched hard drives, about missing emails of Lois Lerner, other IRS officials, other officials in the Obama administration, its all been a pack of malarkey. They could get these records, but they dont want to.
Fitton said his group plans to ask a federal judge to order the IRS to hand over the emails, which conservative opponents of Lerner want to see in order to determine if there is a link between President Obamas team and the IRSs targeting of Tea Party groups.
If this backup system is working, Lois Lerners emails are there, Fitton said.
I bet Putin would be happy to re open some old prison space for friends of Obama.
When enough people decide that we dont want to be governed under those conditions, its gonna get ugly.
Yet another home run from an astute Freeper.
Calm down, sister. There are nearly 100 Million armed American citizens. That's a third of our population. Many of them possess multiple firearms - quite a few of which are easily equal to anything the military carries.
In addition to that, a huge percentage of that number are in possession of high powered hunting rifles, which are capable of taking out large game from great distances. Most of those people are also quite expert in doing so.
Lastly, there are no more than about 1.5 million active duty military personnel under arms at present. I'll remind you that our entire armed forces were tied up in the country of Iraq for ten years by no more than (an estimated) 1,500 jihadist militants.
I truly understand your concern, but really, the odds are on the side of the people in this equation.
I work for a large multi-national bank. We've been subpoenaed by the Federal Government to produce records, emails, policies, etc..
If we ever used the excuses the Federal Government is using here, someone from our bank would be found in contempt of court and hauled off to jail, at least until such time we produced the records/emails in question.
And then, all hell would break loose. The shitstorm our bank would be subjected to would make Bank of America's 16 Billion dollar fine look like peanuts.
So I have one question: Why isn't Lois Lerner in jail?
Why wouldn’t they want to release the e-mails? This is the most transparent administration in history.
....and nothing will be done....and no one will be held accountable. it’s like we expect this to happen now. I’d be SHOCKED if someone in the government did the RIGHT thing for a change!
*stolen* :)
The one in Mexico where our Marine is being held. We could do a swap. :)
Why isn't Lois Lerner in jail?
Good question, according to Lois Lerner, she's as pure as the driven snow!
May 22, 2013 - Lois Lerner Statement to Congress (House Oversight and Government Affairs Committee).
MS. LERNER: Good morning, Mr. Chairman and members of the committee. My name is Lois Lerner, and Im the director of exempt organizations at the Internal Revenue Service. I have been a government employee for over 34 years.
I initially practiced law at the Department of Justice and later at the Federal Election Commission. In 2001 I became I moved to the IRS to work in the exempt organizations office, and in 2006 I was promoted to be the director of that office.
Exempt organizations oversees about 1.6 million tax-exempt organizations and processes over 60,000 applications for tax exemption every year. As director, Im responsible for about 900 employees nationwide and administer a budget of almost $100 million.
My professional career has been devoted to fulfilling responsibilities of the agencies for which I have worked, and I am very proud of the work that I have done in government.
On May 14th the Treasury inspector general released a report finding that the exempt organizations field office in Cincinnati, Ohio, used inappropriate criteria to identify for further review applications from organizations that planned to engage in political activity, which may mean that they did not qualify for tax exemption.
On that same day, the Department of Justice launched an investigation into the matters described in the inspector generals report. In addition, members of this committee have accused me of providing false information when I responded to questions about the IRS processing of applications for tax exemption.
And while I would very much like to answer the committees questions today, Ive been advised by my counsel to assert my constitutional right not to testify or answer questions related to the subject matter of this hearing. After very careful consideration, Ive decided to follow my counsels advice and not testify or answer any of the questions today.
Because Im asserting my right not to testify, I know that some people will assume that Ive done something wrong. I have not. One of the basic functions of the Fifth Amendment is to protect innocent individuals, and that is the protection Im invoking today.
Thank you.
Uhhh, so?
If this article is accurate, why is there absolutely nothing posted about it on the judicialwatch.org web site?

What do I win I have two and-a-half out of four?
Whoa whoa...speaking as Admin who has many years before retirement, let’s not throw IT under the bus. No technical person, with knowledge of this system, has gone under oath saying “It’s too hard to do a restore”. These are all political hacks covering their collective asses.
The problem with that is that we do not have a penal colony large enough to accommodate all of them!
