Wait till Obama hears about this. He’ll be so outraged he’s likely to play 36 holes.
Will he bite his lower lip to show how upset he is. Oh, wait. . .
Cheeky! Cheeky! Cheeky!
I take no offense. With all the doom & gloom in the world, it actually made me laugh.
After all, we did win the war. :)
Make that both wars.
We celebrate kicking George’s crown out of the colonies every year! Let them have 1 200th anniversary celebration. I’m a big girl. I can take it.
Heck, it was an early stimulus program.
Thanks SMGFan.
In 1812?
Try the Capitol Building!
It was ugly, anyway...
A United States Marine requesting a rest room break from Mess Night festivities may rise and state: “Mr. Vice, I request permission to shed a tear for Admiral Lord Nelson.” It is best when a Royal Marines guest is present.
Nobody won the war of 1812.
Hmmmmm...seems we kicked your red coat wearing limey azzes twice and we’re so frickin generous we saved your butts twice.
If it wasn’t for us you’d be speaking with a strange accent...uhm, oh...wait. ...
Fuuny how nobody remembers WHY the damn British burnt Washington.
always wondered when they started calling it the war of 1812
We won. We lost. Canada won. Canada lost.
There is a reason schools did not spend too much time on the war of 1812 back in the day. :)
Thanks for the ping...when did the Brits total wankers into their diplomatic corps?
“Fuuny how nobody remembers WHY the damn British burnt Washington.”
I do. It was because we objected to the Royal Navy press ganging Americans into the Royal Navy where they could enjoy the fine traditions of rum, sodomy, and the lash.
You started it. We finished it. Again.
1—Actually it was the burning by American troops (before they got thrown out of Canada) of what is now Toronto.
2—Both sides were spoiling for a fight in 1812. Go read what the US hawks were saying. Many in the US wanted a war to drive the British out from N America and annex Canada.
3—Actually nobody won 1812-14. Honours were pretty even on land and sea, in fact Britain was ahead on points (to use a boxing analogy) and even the great US victory at New Orleans came after the peace deal was signed in Ghent, Belgium. And the British post N.O. defeat, were marching towards Mobile to attack it when the peace deal came through.

I want a re-enactment that gets out of hand.
