The UFT will pay a heavy price for sponsoring the Rev. Al Sharptons anti-cop rally on Staten Islandas a growing number of teachers vow to cancel their contributions to the unions political action committee.
The UFTs Committee on Political Education, or COPE, raked in more than $6 million between Jan. 1, 2013, and June 30, 2014, according to records filed with the Federal Election Commission.
But ever since the union announced its support last week for a protest over the police chokehold death of Eric Garner, hundreds of members have used the UFTs own Facebook page to publicly sever ties with COPE.

OOOOOOOOOOO
unhappy shoppers...
You mean unions use their taxpayer funded kickbacks to fund leftist political agendas that even their members don’t support! No way!
A good sign. Teachers thinking for themselves instead of following their leftist leaders down the road to perdition.
How many of these teachers are married to cops I wonder?
It’s only a temporary snafu, they’ll lose their senses shortly.
How about arresting Bobble-head Al for Tax Evasion ,Oh wait he’s Obama/Holders Buddy
Big labor wanting it BOTH WAYS again!!
Just over a year ago the state of Michigan passed a right-to-work law ruling that the state's teachers cannot be forced by law to belong to a union as they had been before. Since then the state teachers union has claimed that it lost only a few members. Still the union was also forced to admit that 8,000 teachers have stopped paying dues.
Never happen in my state of California.
I feel for true teachers (those interested in truths) in gov schools, when they have awareness of what their unions are actually doing, and they themself by extension.
But I feel only a little.
About time! Many NYC teachers are Jewish, and I never figured out why they were giving to something that went out of its way to support antisemitic people and movements. Being leftist trumps everything, I guess.
That said, the worst and most aggressive and violent union in Mexico, and the one that is holding the whole country back, is the teachers’ union. Corrupt as the day is long, and extremely powerful and ready to riot at the drop of a sombrero. The UFT is obviously trying for this same presence in NYC.
First they collaborate hand in hand with Mayor Commie for a truly horrific contract which, among other things, singles out a particular segment of NYC teachers for the worst job placement opportunities and deprives them of their due process rights despite their paying the same dues as other teachers. Then, willy-nilly, they announce that they are participating in this Al Sharpton demonstration event using OUR MONEY to pay for flyers, transportation to the event, etc. without so much as informing the teachers, let alone asking if this is want they want. They dare to protest what they consider prejudice while incorporating prejudice against a certain group of teachers right in the contract!
Therefore, teachers (those who are not libtards) are letting the union know that they are seriously ticked off at this immensely cavalier misuse of their money by cancelling their COPE deductions from their paychecks. Those of us who cancelled months ago intended the cancellation to protest the aforementioned devisive contract. Either way, hitting them in the pocketbook is a way to communicate displeasure with the union's actions that they might at last listen to, because they have not been very responsive to the expressed concerns of members as of late. The moron Mulgrew has taken it into his pumpkin head that being elected president of the union (with only about a fifth of teachers voting) means he can do what he wants with the union's name and the teachers' money. In this case, it means sullying our name by linking it to Sharpton.
