As Congress hurtled toward a government shutdown in the fall of 2013, Rep. Paul Ryan looked around at fellow Republicans who were agitating to shutter national parks, federal agencies and Head Start programs.
"This can't be the full measure of our party and our movement," Ryan writes of that moment in his new book, released Tuesday. "If it is, we're dead and the country is lost."
Such moments of raw frustration pepper Ryan's "The Way Forward: Renewing the American Idea," a book as much about his front-row seat as Republicans' favorite budget wonk as it is about his political future. Ryan is considered a contender for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination.

I guess the idea of buying a book on how to change Washington written by a guy that has been in congress 15 years doesn’t appear to be a page burner.
in new book (that no one is buying!),

The Hillary Syndrome ???
People are getting smart: no one wants a book by a politician of ANY stripe.
Ryan had so much potential based on his presentation during the Republican Healthcare Summit with Obama way back when.
Like Rubio, he blew it.
If the Pubbies did run on legalization and amnesty, Nancy Pelosi would be the next speaker.
More and more Ryamnesty opens his mouth and proves he isnt one of the sharper knives in the drawer.
That is because he went to the dark side a while ago.
Sorry Paul, no cigar.
Ryan isn’t going anywhere. He is stuck on establishment stupid.
Hey, A-hole, no one was agitating to shutter national parks. No one. The Dems did it as a strategy to make the Republicans look bad. If Ryan does not understand that, he's a complete F-ing idiot. And if he does not think that certain federal agencies and useless programs like "Head Start" should be shut down or at least cut way back, he's a complete F-ing idiot. How the Hell are you supposed to cut spending if you don't cut back agencies?
And this is the genius who was supposed to be leading the GOP charge on getting government under control? What a complete disappointment.
Another establishment moron, who is totally disconnected from the majority of Republican voters.
Republican voters are generally smart, wonderful people, cursed by unprincipled, self-promoting leaders.
What a complete disappointment.
Both statements, I couldn't agree more.
This guy turned out to be a total douche...
Stick to the Budget, ya moron.
shutter national parks, federal agencies....
obama did that.
BUMP, with a lot of help from Harry Reid!
STFU Paul, nobody cares.
.
This does not bode well for his political future. He’s as tone deaf as Zero on this issue.
