Unlike many other businesses that choose to go that way, Target WAS a store I patronized.

Ditto. Businesses become political at their peril. They could have just kept quiet; they didn’t and should now suffer the consequences.

In addition, Target announced they didn’t want customers who conceal carry, in their stores.
Target is taking the JCP route...refusing to acknowledge their homo-hugging (Ellen Degeneres-loving) is driving a lot of folks away.
Next year they’ll claim it was “the weather”.
Not a problem for me as my money is mobile.

Yes, Target’s move is going to alienate many of its customers.
I suppose the analysts could be right, but my own anecdotal data shows that it was a breech of a different kind that caused their loss in sales.
I’m thinking the “loving gays” statement won’t help much either.
My wife’s card was stopped due to their lack of security so we cut way back on shopping there, then they decided to tell us they no longer wanted us to carry in their stores so nobody in our family will even walk into a Target. Never again will they get a single penny from us.
Just like J.C. Penney, they cater to the 1% homo crowd and insult Christians and gun owners (mostly one in the same) and then wonder why their sales tank. Also, just like most large corporations’ liberal boards and CEOs they will use some lame excuse for their loses rather than admit to the reality that conservatives have a larger influence upon purchasing than liberals.
Pushing the poofter agenda isn’t winning them customers either.
Siding with the sexual deviants didn’t help them much either.
